(DTO) Currently, watermelon farmers in Hoa Long commune are entering the watermelon harvest season.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh, residing in Long Hoi hamlet, Hoa Long commune, said: “This year, my family planted 3,000 square meters of the 2014 American Stripe watermelon variety, and we have already harvested 4 tons. Traders came to buy the watermelons directly from the field at a price of 6,500 - 7,000 VND/kg. At this price, farmers are making a good profit.”

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thiet, a watermelon trader, said that the price of watermelons has increased due to the hot weather, the strong increase in domestic demand for watermelons, and the increased demand for watermelon imports from neighboring countries.
