NEAC is migrating the national Root CA infrastructure.

On November 25th, the National Electronic Authentication Center (NEAC) held a ceremony to generate root digital signature certificates for the National Electronic Authentication Service Provider (Root CA) under the name of the Ministry of Science and Technology .

This is a crucial infrastructure transformation to align with the new name of the governing body, the Ministry of Science and Technology, following the merger.

The key generation ceremony took place at NEAC's main data center.

The creation of keys and issuance of digital signature certificates to the Root CA under the name of the Ministry of Science and Technology aims to standardize identification information, ensure the legitimacy and legality of the national electronic authentication service provider, and maintain a high level of trust for systems using digital signatures in the operations of state agencies, businesses, and citizens.

Simultaneously, to comply with the new legal framework for trusted services, the national Root CA has issued four digital signature certificates for four services.

This includes: Digital signature certificates for digital signature authentication services using the USB TOKEN model; Digital signature certificates for digital signature authentication services using the remote signing model; Digital signature certificates for digital signature authentication services using the mobile device signing model; Digital signature certificates for timestamp services.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. To Thi Thu Huong, Director of NEAC, said that NEAC considers the creation of a new root digital signature certificate for the Root CA system not merely a technical update under the Ministry's new name, but also a mission to strengthen the foundation of trust for Vietnam's digital infrastructure.

" This is a crucial step in perfecting the infrastructure for reliability and ensuring legal compliance in the new context. NEAC is committed to operating the system safely, stably, continuously, and with absolute transparency to support ministries, localities, businesses, and citizens in implementing e-transactions and national digital transformation ," Ms. Huong emphasized.

According to NEAC, the introduction of the new root digital signature certificate will not disrupt existing services.

The original digital signature certificate remains valid, and digital signature certificates issued by public digital signature service providers using the original certificate continue to be used and maintained until their expiration, ensuring the normal operation of the digital signature certificate chains issued to state agencies, organizations, businesses, and individuals.

Based on the new original digital signature certificate, NEAC is gradually issuing digital signature certificates to trusted service providers to deliver services.

In the coming period, NEAC will continue to coordinate with trusted service providers, ministries, sectors, and localities to standardize the use of new original digital signature certificates in application systems; continue to improve authentication regulations, technical procedures, and security standards. At the same time, it will strengthen communication, guidance, and support for organizations and individuals to effectively utilize digital signatures and trusted services in all areas of economic and social life.
