(Dan Tri Newspaper) - These days, many streets in Da Lat city ( Lam Dong province) are ablaze with the vibrant purple of jacaranda flowers, attracting numerous tourists and locals to enjoy the beauty of this flower.
Jacaranda trees have been present in Da Lat city for a long time, but they have only been planted extensively in the last 10 years or so. Da Lat city is one of the localities with the most streets lined with jacaranda trees. According to documents, in 1962, agricultural engineer Luong Van Sau brought this flower variety from Europe to plant in Da Lat city. He was the one who propagated the seeds and planted the first jacaranda trees in the city. From the original jacaranda tree, after 62 years, this species has taken root and is thriving in the city of a thousand flowers. This type of tree is now very common on many roads in the city center and suburbs of Da Lat, becoming a distinctive symbol of Lam Dong province's "capital". The photo shows a jacaranda tree located right in Da Lat market. A few years ago, another variety of jacaranda tree was brought from South America and planted in Da Lat. This type of jacaranda is easier to grow, thrives better, and produces more flowers. According to photographer Dinh Van Bien in Da Lat city, after the cherry blossom season comes the jacaranda blossom season. Jacaranda trees usually bloom profusely from March to April every year, creating a series of consecutive flowering seasons in Lam Dong province. "The jacaranda trees are in full bloom, bringing a dreamy and romantic beauty to Xuan Huong Lake, Tran Khanh Du Street, and Da Lat night market. With its distinctive color, the jacaranda tree has become a highlight of Da Lat, attracting the attention of many tourists visiting the city," said Mr. Dinh Van Bien. Jacaranda trees are large woody plants, 10-15m tall with a canopy about 5-7m wide, and leaves that resemble those of the flamboyant tree. However, jacaranda flowers are tubular, blooming in clusters that shimmer in the sunlight, each flower potentially 4-5cm long (Photo: Dang Duong).
