Launched at the beginning of the year, the "Mini Car Racing 2025" competition organized by Cao Thang Technical College has attracted the participation of more than 70 teams from prestigious universities and colleges nationwide such as: Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education and Technology, Tra Vinh University, Binh Duong University, Ho Chi Minh City Vocational College, Saigon Gia Dinh College...
After rigorous technical checks and preliminary rounds, the 27 best teams advanced to the finals, which took place on the morning of May 24th.

According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thanh, Head of the Department of Automotive Engineering at Cao Thang Technical College, this is the 10th time the school has organized the competition. The participating model cars are remotely controlled via smartphone using Wi-Fi, automatically controlling and connecting, and using Hybrid technology (combining gasoline and electric engines).
“In the context of climate change and the global trend of smart transportation, incorporating green, energy-efficient, and sustainable technologies into engineering education is a top priority. The competition is not only a healthy and engaging playground for students but also inspires creativity and responsibility for protecting the environment. In the future, this competition aims for autonomous, programmable vehicles,” said Mr. Thanh.

The model cars, designed and built by the students themselves, use 2-stroke gasoline engines with a displacement of 22-33 cm³, and have a structure and operating principle similar to real cars.

The racing car is controlled via a phone.

Many model race cars experienced malfunctions on the track, requiring emergency response from the team members.

The team checks the wheels and engine before starting the next race.

The product must meet technical safety standards and have no sharp edges that could cause danger. The model cars race on a specially designed track with a total track length of 76m.

The moment of celebration for the winning team.

Overcoming numerous competitors from colleges and universities, a team of first-year students from Cao Thang Technical College achieved a convincing victory, winning a prize worth 20 million VND.
Vo Minh Thang, a student majoring in automotive engineering at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City), said that the five members of his team spent a year researching the model, developing optimal techniques, and designing a "super cool" appearance.
Tran Quoc Vuong, a first-year student at Cao Thang Technical College, excitedly shared that on their first time participating in the competition, their team immediately won the top prize.
"Our team has four members. In the days leading up to the competition, we stayed up all night trying out different designs. In addition, our teachers at school provided a lot of support. Thanks to that, our 'supercar' glided smoothly on the racetracks," said team leader Quoc Vuong with a big smile.
In particular, the team whose product features innovative and unique technological solutions in terms of functionality, aesthetics, and economics, and which most closely resembles a real-world structure, will be selected by the school as a model for use in teaching.
