According to local people, the name Song Muc Lake originates from a legend about a squid, the son of the sea king, who, after wandering in the forest, couldn't return home when the water receded and died here.

Another legend says that the lake's branches resemble the tentacles of a squid. The name Ben En comes from the fact that in the past, many people here fished, and when they docked, there was a huge crowd. The word "En" is an old local word meaning "crowding" or "jostling."

The harmonious combination of forest, mountain, and lake topography has given Ben En a cool microclimate, suitable for relaxation, sightseeing, and recreation.
