In the days leading up to the Lunar New Year, the atmosphere in remote and rural communes becomes more vibrant as delegations from the province and many banks directly visit, encourage, and present Tet gifts to poor households and families entitled to preferential policies.
As one of the leading state-owned commercial banks, playing a key role in agricultural credit investment, the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development, Lang Son Branch ( Agribank Lang Son), has consistently and actively implemented numerous meaningful social and charitable programs and activities. In particular, every year, Agribank allocates a portion of its budget to care for, share with, and support the poor and families entitled to preferential policies in the province with heartfelt Tet (Lunar New Year) gifts.
Mr. Nguyen Hong Duc, Director of Agribank Lang Son, said: "Besides its business objectives, Agribank Lang Son always considers social responsibility as one of its key tasks. Through social welfare programs, especially activities to care for the poor and families entitled to preferential policies during Tet (Lunar New Year), we hope to contribute to sharing difficulties and encouraging people to have a warmer and more fulfilling Tet. This is also the sentiment and responsibility of the entire staff and employees of Agribank Lang Son towards the community and the sustainable development of the locality. On the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2026, Agribank Lang Son allocated 1.75 billion VND, equivalent to 3,500 gift packages, to be given to poor households and families entitled to preferential policies in the province."
Similarly to Agribank Lang Son, during the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, the Provincial Branch of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies (VBSP) donated 500 gift packages to poor households and families entitled to preferential policies in the province, with a total value of 360 million VND. Mr. Phan Anh Thang, Deputy Director of the Provincial VBSP Branch, said: Besides implementing preferential credit programs, the unit always pays attention to social welfare programs every year, especially the activity of giving Tet gifts to the poor and families entitled to preferential policies. Accordingly, the branch allocates a portion of the social welfare fund and mobilizes staff to contribute a day's salary to give gifts to poor households and families entitled to preferential policies. The gifts are delivered directly to the people by the Provincial VBSP Branch and its transaction offices in coordination with the People's Committees of communes and wards throughout the province, helping many families have better conditions to celebrate Tet.
Not only the two banks mentioned above, but over the years, many banks in the province have paid attention to and effectively carried out social welfare activities, especially focusing on giving Tet gifts to poor households and families entitled to preferential policies each Lunar New Year. For example, during the Lunar New Year season this year, the Vietnam Foreign Trade Commercial Bank (Vietcombank) Lang Son Branch donated 338 Tet gift packages worth 169 million VND; the Vietnam Investment and Development Bank (BIDV) Lang Son Branch donated 1,200 Tet gift packages worth 600 million VND to poor households, families entitled to preferential policies, and people affected by natural disasters during the Lunar New Year... The gifts included essential goods and cash, contributing to sharing difficulties and encouraging families to celebrate the traditional Tet holiday joyfully and warmly.
The family of Mr. Vi Van Quyen, from Ta San village, Chien Thang commune, is one of the poor households that recently received Tet gifts from the Social Policy Bank. He shared: "My family is classified as a poor household in the commune, consisting of four people. Our family's economic situation is very difficult. Recently, I received a Tet gift from the Social Policy Bank including 1 million VND in cash and essential items such as vermicelli, cooking oil, seasoning powder… My family is very happy and excited because this gift is very timely and meaningful for poor households like ours."
In the context of a challenging economic environment, the fact that banks are still allocating significant resources to social work clearly demonstrates their sense of community responsibility. With the Lunar New Year of 2026 fast approaching, the gifts distributed carry the warmth of human kindness, helping the poor alleviate their difficulties and bringing them joy in welcoming the new year. With the joint efforts of society as a whole and the banks, it is believed that many poor households and beneficiaries of social policies in the province will be able to celebrate a warm and fulfilling Lunar New Year.
