A new day in Nam Trach

Following the policy of reorganizing commune-level administrative units and ending the operation of district-level administrative units, along with the rest of the country, on July 1, 2025, Nam Trach commune in Quang Tri province officially commenced operations. This area possesses the full potential and advantages of both hilly, flat, and coastal regions. With the consensus and efforts of the officials and people of Nam Trach, it is hoped that a new, more prosperous and happier path will open up for the homeland.

Many potentials and strengths

Nam Trach commune was established by merging three former commune-level administrative units: Nhan Trach commune, Ly Nam commune, and Viet Trung Agricultural Farm town. After the merger, Nam Trach commune has an area of ​​129.83 km2 and a population of 32,594 people. This area possesses many strengths for economic development in the hilly, lowland, and coastal regions. The locality is also traversed by major transportation routes such as National Highway 1, Ho Chi Minh Highway, and expressways, creating favorable conditions for trade and socio-economic development.

To the west of Nam Trach commune lies rubber plantations, a crop once known as "white gold." Although the current price of rubber latex is not as high as in previous years, it remains a relatively stable source of income, helping to improve the lives of households involved in its cultivation and production. In addition, on the hilly areas, many farms and livestock breeding operations have also proven economically effective, such as raising cattle, chickens, fish, and pigs, and cultivating jackfruit, pepper, oranges, and guavas.

With its advantageous coastal location, Nam Trach currently has over 300 fishing vessels. Fishing not only provides income for the local people but also promotes the development of related logistics services.

Thanks to leveraging local potential and advantages, many agricultural products in Nam Trach are produced efficiently and with good quality, establishing their brands in the market. In particular, many products have achieved OCOP 3-star standards, such as: Phuc Loc guava; tea tree, five-veined tea tree, lemongrass (Nhu Oanh Essential Oil Cooperative); tamarind-flavored squid, fish sauce (Nhan Trach Seafood Processing Cooperative)...

Nam Trach also has great potential and advantages for tourism development, possessing a long sandy beach, beautiful coastline, the Dinh River, U Bo peak with many magnificent landscapes, and a cool climate...

Tran Van Thang, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of Nam Trach commune, affirmed: "The arrangement and merger of administrative units is a major and correct policy of the Party and the State aimed at streamlining the apparatus, improving the efficiency of management and administration; ensuring appropriate scale and potential for sustainable socio-economic development."

For Nam Trach commune, after the merger, the population and area have expanded, and resources in terms of human resources, land, and infrastructure are more concentrated, creating conditions for synchronized planning and development, attracting investment, and implementing public works and basic infrastructure projects, thereby leveraging the economic strengths of each locality previously.”

Secretary of the Nam Trach Commune Party Committee, Tran Van Thang: The success of the merger and operation of the two-tiered government system depends not only on the decisions of the higher levels, but also on the political will, solidarity, and practical responsibility of each organization, official, and citizen. Therefore, the team of officials, Party members, and civil servants of Nam Trach commune, especially those holding key positions, need to continue to uphold their sense of responsibility, be proactive in their work, be astute in handling situations, and be exemplary in implementing the policies of the Party, the State, and the locality. The Nam Trach Commune Party Committee must truly be a unified and cohesive body, a place where wisdom and a spirit of innovation converge, thereby spreading confidence and motivation to each village, each family, and each citizen, leading the commune to quickly achieve stability and gradually develop sustainably and comprehensively.

Unity for mutual development

After a short period of operation, with a sense of urgency and seriousness, Nam Trach commune has basically completed the key tasks. Specifically, the commune has streamlined its organizational structure, provided adequate facilities, and clearly assigned tasks to each specialized department, official, and civil servant. Activities such as receiving citizens, handling professional work, maintaining security and order, and organizing internal meetings have all proceeded normally and in an orderly manner.

At the Nam Trach Commune Public Administrative Service Center, the processing and receipt of administrative documents and procedures are conducted seriously, in accordance with regulations, smoothly, and efficiently. Staff in the service departments enthusiastically assist citizens with any difficulties encountered during the submission of related procedures.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Lai said: “Because I have some related documents that need processing, I frequently go to the commune's 'One-Stop' service center. This time, before going, I was a little worried that since the commune had just started operating, the processing of administrative procedures might be disrupted. However, when I arrived, I was very happy because everything was operating normally. The staff receiving the documents were very enthusiastic and cheerful. I also received assistance from the youth union members in completing the procedures quickly and conveniently.”

The reorganization of commune-level administrative units, while creating favorable conditions for socio-economic development, also poses many new challenges, requiring a rational restructuring of the political apparatus. Cadres and civil servants must adapt quickly to the new working environment; cultural institutions and the political system in villages and residential areas need to be strengthened promptly; ideological work and public sentiment must be stabilized; and the new apparatus must operate effectively and efficiently for the benefit of the people.

Thanks to the efforts, unity, and high sense of responsibility of the staff, civil servants, and workers, Nam Trach commune has initially achieved stable operation, creating consensus and unity among the people. “The establishment of the new Nam Trach commune is an important event, a historical milestone opening a new path of development. As a resident of the commune, I hope that with the renewal of the staff, improved natural conditions, and infrastructure, Nam Trach commune will experience remarkable development in the coming time,” said Mr. Nguyen Van An, a resident of Nhan Nam village, expressing his confidence and expectations.
