On the morning of March 23, at Dam Thi Nai, Quy Nhon City (Binh Dinh province), the first racing day of the UIM-ABP Aquabike Championship 3, the Grand Prix of Binh Dinh race, took place.
Participating in the race on the first day of the tournament, there were 55 riders competing for classification and entering Motorcycle race 1. Accordingly, the qualifying race for the starting position (pole position) of all 4 categories took place from 10:30 a.m. – 14:00 with the competition format divided into 2 rounds: Class 1 (Q1) in 15 minutes including all riders; Division 2 (Q2) takes place in 10 minutes, including 10 people with the best results from division 1 continuing to compete for position.
The Ski Ladies GP1 racing category took place with the participation of 11 athletes: Benedicte Drange, Sofie Borgstrom, River Varner, Joana Graca, Jasmiin Ypraus, Lisa Causin, Janina Johansson, Estelle Poret, Emma-Nelie Ortendahl, Jessica Chanvanne, Naomi Benini. Female racers use flexible water motorbikes, controlled mainly by the upper body, and can reach speeds of 130km/h. With this racing vehicle, athletes race standing according to regulations. Engine: 2 stroke/maximum 1.300cc or 4 stroke/1.620cc or turbo/maximum 1.000cc. With this race category, there will be a maximum of 30 athletes participating.
With excellent performances in both rounds, Jasmiin Ypraus (Estonia - 2 years old) won the Pole of the Ski Ladies category, even though she made the audience's hearts jump twice by falling during the Q23 race. Her best performance is 2 minute 2 seconds. Second place was racer Jessica Chanvanne (France) with a time of 01 minute 55.719 seconds. Coming in 01rd place was Swedish racer mma-Nelie Ortendahl with 55.951 minute 3 seconds.
Jasmiin Ypraus once went to Quy Nhon to record the reality TV show "Radiating passion for Aquabike" as a coach. In particular, her students won in the first season. She once shared that returning to Quy Nhon was like returning to a second home because it felt so familiar.
The Ski Division GP1 racing category takes place with the competition of 21 riders: Mickael Poret, Anthony Beernarut, Morgan Poret, Valentin Dardillat, Dag Martin Drange, Slave Ivancic, Gabor Szabo, Daniele Piscaglia, Xavier Pessleux, Alec Enderli, Andera Gudi , Toshi Ohara, Matteo Benini, Mads Koch Hansen, Oliver Koch Hansen, Russell Maxence, Daniel Svae Andersen, Kavin Reiterer, Axel Courtois, Jeremy Poret, Quinten Bossche.
Racers use flexible water motorbikes, controlled mainly by the upper body, and can reach speeds of 130km/h. According to regulations, athletes race standing, each race will have a maximum of 30 athletes participating. The racing vehicle is a ski with a 2 stroke/maximum 1300cc or 4 stroke/1620cc or turbo/maximum 1000cc engine.
After 2 rounds of qualifying races Q1 and Q2, the Pole position in the Ski Division category was determined. The top 3 are Hungarian racer Kevin Reiterer with the best time of 01 minute 49.165 seconds; Quinten Bossche (Belgium) had the best time of 01 minute 49.755 seconds and lastly was French rider Jeremy Poret with the best time of 01 minute 49.765 seconds.
Right after the Ski Division is the Runabout GP1 racing category with fierce competition from 20 riders registered for the Runuabout GP1 category, considered the most prestigious category in the tournament. Athletes use the fastest and most powerful jet ski on the water, which can reach speeds of 170km/h. Engine 2 stroke/max 2600cc or 4 stroke/2600cc or turbo/max 2000cc. This category only has a maximum of 25 racers. Athletes can race standing or sitting on a motorbike to control straight and curvy tracks according to the racing pattern.
The Runabout GP1 racing category took place with the participation of 20 athletes: Samuel Johansson, Gyorgy Kasza, Marcus Jorgensen, Yordan Nikolov, Egidijus Kirilevicius, Juan Cruz Lezcano, Anthony Radetic, Martin Doulik, Andrzej Wisniewski, Lino Araujo, Ruben Jimenez Riquelme, Francois Medori, Lorenzo Benaglia, Mario Lamy, Linus Lindberg, Alberto Santini, Ikoma Jun, Rasmus Koch Hansen, Johan Johansson, Jeremy Perez.
Unexpectedly, French racer Jeremy Perez won the Pole of this prestigious category with a record of 01 minute 52.951 seconds, followed by Francois Medori - with the best record of 01 minute 53.222 seconds and Marcus Jorgensen with 01 minute 54.797 seconds .
