People's Artist Minh Vương said that the family of artist Bảo Anh (born in 1955) had just informed him that the artist passed away at 5 PM on October 5th at Minh Anh Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City. "After a period of treatment for an aortic aneurysm, which prevented blood flow to the brain, causing 80% of Bảo Anh's brain to die, the family tried their best for the past 35 days with the help of the best specialists, but a miracle was not possible. We are deeply saddened to hear of Bảo Anh's passing at the age of 69," People's Artist Minh Vương shared.

He was born into a family of nine brothers in the remote U Minh Ha region ( Kien Giang province). Eight of them couldn't sing a single vong co song, except for his father – a renowned tai tu singer who had captivated countless rural girls. He was the only one who continued his father's legacy.

The handsome artist Bao Anh, with his deep, warm voice, always claims he inherited his voice from his father, while his good looks are partly from his parents and all eight of his siblings.

His childhood was filled with sadness, but thanks to his love and passion for singing, in 1974, he abandoned his job as a buffalo herder and joined the district's performing arts troupe in the forest. His life took a different turn, and that became the destiny that followed him until he became a professional artist.

A year after joining the district's performing arts troupe, he was recruited by the Huong Tram Cai Luong (traditional Vietnamese opera) troupe of Ca Mau province. After that, he wandered as an actor, living a nomadic life. In the early 1980s, when the Cai Luong stage in Southern Vietnam was at its peak, several major troupes such as Tran Huu Trang, Kim Cuong, and Saigon 2 invited him to be the lead actor. His performances left a significant mark, including plays like "In the Name of Justice," "Camellia Girl," "Ngo Quyen," and "The Love Story of Oanh and Ngoc." He also performed alongside artist Phuong Lien in "Bat Trang Folk Tales" and with People's Artist Kim Cuong in "The Rose Pinned to the Shirt."

When the traditional Vietnamese opera (cải lương) stage was in decline, he switched to another field. With his handsome face, good acting skills, and serious and diligent work ethic, he quickly caught the eye of film directors. He participated in around 30 films that were well-received by the public.
