In the spirit of pride celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and the reunification of the country (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), the Central Committee of the Vietnam Association of Youth with Disabilities organized a special program titled "The Quintessence of Northern Vietnam - Shining with Resilience" at the Quintessence of Northern Vietnam Complex in Quoc Oai District (Hanoi).

The event is not only an occasion to pay tribute to the glorious history of the nation but also to honor the strong will of the Vietnamese disabled community on their journey of integration, development, and contribution to the country.
On the evening of April 27th, the event brought together more than 1,000 people with disabilities from Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Bac Giang , Hai Duong, Cao Bang, Tuyen Quang, Hoa Binh, and Nghe An. Many people, despite having mobility issues, braved the long journeys to arrive in Hanoi the night before. Ms. Be Thi Bang, the winner of the Miss Disabled Moon pageant, shared: “For me, April 30th is not only the day of national reunification, but also a symbol of overcoming all obstacles. Every step, every achievement, no matter how small, is a way for us to continue writing the story of the indomitable Vietnamese spirit.” Notably, the program included the participation of 135 families with children and individuals with cerebral palsy. Ms. Dinh Thi Lan Anh, from the Vietnam Association of Families of Children and People with Cerebral Palsy, emotionally shared: “The program is truly meaningful for children with cerebral palsy and for us parents. This is the first time children with cerebral palsy have worn the red flag with a yellow star, integrating into society on this joyous national day.” Mr. Pham Van Thanh, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Association of Disabled Youth and Head of the program's organizing committee, said: "The spirit of unity is not only about connecting the two regions of the country, but also about connecting all Vietnamese hearts, regardless of physical appearance or circumstances. We believe that each disabled person can become a small flame contributing to warming and illuminating the common journey of the nation. Human development cannot be separated from the roots of national culture." The children eagerly chose and bought flags, decorating their hats to participate in the program. The event is not only an opportunity for the disabled community – those with resilient hearts – to express their national pride, but also creates a space for meeting, interacting, and spreading traditional culture through vivid experiences. People with disabilities participated in the traditional bamboo dance alongside the performers and local people at the event. Participants in the program were enthusiastic about learning about folklore. Taking photos on the street lined with national flags - Proud of Vietnam, celebrating 50 years of national reunification. The "Essence of Northern Vietnam" live performance show is a special highlight of the program, offering viewers a unique artistic journey that combines tradition and modern technology. Performed in a large, on-site stage, the show consists of six scenes: Poetry - Buddhist Realm - Nostalgia - Music and Painting - Joy - Festival. Each section recreates the distinctive cultural features of the Northern Delta region throughout 1000 years of history. Beyond simply recalling the glorious history of the nation, the program also conveys the aspiration for a future where every Vietnamese citizen has the opportunity to shine and contribute to building a strong and civilized country. In a space steeped in traditional culture, interspersed with resilient eyes and radiant smiles, we are not only proud of the past but also confidently move forward – with love, tolerance, and the enduring strength of unity.
