On the morning of November 12th, Alley 3 on Thai Ha Street was ablaze with the vibrant red of hundreds of fluttering flags. Colorful murals and lush green trees swaying in the breeze all blended together to create a fresh, lively atmosphere.

This is the "Happy Alley" project, a meaningful gift to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front's Traditional Day and the National Unity Day of Dong Da ward.

A significant project

Ms. Tran Thi Minh Xuan, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Da Ward, said: "We want to create a 'bright - green - clean - beautiful' space, eliminating the image of the alleyway which previously had many motorbikes parked haphazardly and was quite messy in some places."

The "Happy Alley" project comprises three main elements: a mural covering 175m², a 700m long string of flags, and over 70 lucky trees, each over 1m tall, placed along the alley.

The project, with a total cost of nearly 100 million VND, was implemented by Vietcombank in coordination with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the ward and other political and social organizations. This is not only a highlight in the series of activities celebrating the Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of the city and other political and social organizations for the 2025-2030 term, but also a meaningful cultural project presented to the people of residential areas No. 30 and 31.

"Now, after work or school, when people return home and walk through the alley lined with red flags, vibrant paintings, and the lush green of the 'Happiness Trees' row, they feel incredibly joyful," emphasized Ms. Tran Thi Minh Xuan.

The completion of the "Happy Alley" project not only transformed the appearance of a small alley but also ignited a sense of community responsibility through practical actions such as maintaining environmental hygiene, parking vehicles in designated areas, and preserving the landscape and cultural space.

What is truly precious and gives soul to the "Happy Alley" is the spirit of dedication and collaboration of the local people, especially the community officials. Ms. Phan Thùy Rim, Vice President of the Women's Union of Dong Da Ward, could not hide her excitement upon witnessing the completion of the project.

"Although the project was funded, it was the kindness and effort of the people that were the deciding factor. The villagers were always ready to contribute their labor to help clean up, even during the recent rainy and windy days, and created favorable conditions for the artists to complete the project as quickly as possible," Ms. Rim said.

During the days when the entire city and localities organized the Great Unity Festival, the "Happy Alley" project truly stood out, a vibrant symbol of unity and collective effort.

Visiting the project, Nguyen Ngoc Viet, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Council of Dong Da Ward, affirmed: "The project's value may not be great, but the name 'Happy Alley' fully embodies the spirit and goals that the Party Committee and people of Dong Da Ward are striving for."

According to Comrade Nguyen Ngoc Viet, the project is a concrete implementation of the Resolution of the City Party Congress and the First Resolution of the Dong Da Ward Party Congress, all aimed at the noble goal of the people's happiness. The project also serves as an opportunity to encourage people to actively maintain environmental hygiene.

“When there are beautiful structures, it will attract people to participate in general cleaning on Saturdays and Sundays. Beautiful walls will prevent illegal advertising and posters. People and local associations will work together to care for the trees so that they always remain green and vibrant, true to the meaning of the name 'Happiness',” Comrade Nguyen Ngoc Viet emphasized.

Let's work together to preserve happiness every day.

Looking at the familiar alley now adorned with flags and flowers, Mrs. Vu Thi Sac, a resident of residential area No. 31, could not hide her emotion: "Walking on this brightly decorated street, we are very happy and feel that life has become more poetic." This simple statement clearly reflects the positive changes that the project has brought to the daily lives of the people here.

Expressing gratitude to the ward leaders, sponsors, young artists, and all residents who contributed to the project, the Party Secretary and Head of the Front Committee of Ward 31, Nguyen Cao Luyen, affirmed: “We, the officials and people of residential areas 30 and 31, will continue to maintain the environmental landscape so that this place always remains a bright spot of green, clean, and beautiful Dong Da ward, contributing to building a cultured, civilized, modern, developed, and happy Hanoi .”

That commitment is not only from Mr. Luyen, but also from every resident here. Ms. Phan Thuy Rim shared: “The attention of the Party Committee, the People's Committee, and especially the Fatherland Front of the ward has created a road of happiness. We feel a greater responsibility to take care of and maintain this project sustainably.”

When asked about watering plants and maintaining the property, Ms. Le Thu Hang, a resident of Alley 3, immediately affirmed that she was ready to lend a hand because it is a shared asset of the entire residential area. Not only Ms. Hang, but this spirit of cooperation is spreading among every resident of residential groups 30 and 31.
