On the morning of November 12, Alley 3 of Thai Ha Street was ablaze with the brilliant red of hundreds of fluttering flags. Colorful murals and rows of green trees swaying in the wind - all combined to create a fresh, vibrant space.

This is the project "Happy Alley", a meaningful gift to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front's Traditional Day and the National Great Unity Day of Dong Da ward.

Meaningful work

Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Da Ward, Tran Thi Minh Xuan, said: "We want to create a "bright - green - clean - beautiful" space, erasing the image of the alley that used to have many motorbikes parked in a mess and in some places was quite messy."

The project “Happy Alley” includes three main items: Mural paintings with an area of 175m², flags stretching 700m and more than 70 happy trees with a height of more than 1m placed along the alley.

The project has a total cost of nearly 100 million VND, implemented by Vietcombank in coordination with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the ward and socio-political organizations. This is not only a highlight in the series of activities to welcome the Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of the city and socio-political organizations for the 2025-2030 term, but also a meaningful cultural project given to the people of residential areas No. 30 and 31.

“Now, after work or study, when each person returns home and passes through the alley lined with red flags, vivid paintings, and the lush green of the Happiness trees, they feel extremely excited,” emphasized Ms. Tran Thi Minh Xuan.

The completion of the “Happy Alley” not only changes the appearance of a small alley, but also ignites the flame of community responsibility through practical actions, keeping the environment clean, arranging vehicles in the right place, preserving the landscape and cultural space...

The precious thing that creates the soul of “Happy Alley” is the spirit of dedication and cooperation of the people here, especially the residential area cadres. Vice President of the Dong Da Ward Women’s Union Phan Thuy Rim could not hide her excitement when witnessing the completion of the project.

"Although the project was funded, the people's hearts and efforts were the deciding factors. People were always willing to contribute their efforts to clean up, even during the recent rainy days, and created favorable conditions for the artists to complete the project as quickly as possible," said Ms. Rim.

During the days when the whole city and localities organized the Great Unity Day, the project "Happy Alley" was truly a brilliant highlight, a vivid symbol of unity and solidarity.

Visiting the project, Party Secretary and Chairman of Dong Da Ward People's Council Nguyen Ngoc Viet affirmed: "The value of the project may not be great, but the name "Happy Alley" fully contains the spirit and goals that the Party Committee and people of Dong Da Ward are aiming for."

According to comrade Nguyen Ngoc Viet, the project is a concrete activity to realize the Resolution of the City Party Congress and the Resolution of the 1st Congress of Dong Da Ward Party Committee, all of which aim at the noble goal of people's happiness. The project is also an opportunity to promote people to actively maintain environmental hygiene.

“When there is a beautiful project, it will attract people to clean up on Saturdays and Sundays. A beautiful wall will prevent illegal advertising and classified ads. People and branches will take care of the trees so that they are always green, true to the meaning of the name happiness,” Comrade Nguyen Ngoc Viet emphasized.

Join hands to preserve happiness every day

Looking at the beloved alley now brightly decorated with flags and flowers, Ms. Vu Thi Sac, a resident of residential area 31, could not hide her emotion: "Walking on the road brightly decorated with flags and flowers, we are very happy and feel that life is more poetic." That simple saying clearly reflects the positive change that the project brings to the daily lives of the people here.

Expressing his thanks to the ward leaders, sponsors, young artists and all the people who contributed to the project, Party cell secretary and head of Front Work Committee No. 31 Nguyen Cao Luyen affirmed: "We, the cadres and people of residential areas 30 and 31 will continue to preserve the landscape and environment so that this place will always be a bright green, clean and beautiful spot of Dong Da ward, contributing to building a civilized, modern, developed and happy capital Hanoi ."

That commitment is not only from Mr. Luyen, but also from every resident here. Ms. Phan Thuy Rim shared: “The attention of the Party Committee, the People’s Committee, especially the Fatherland Front of the ward has created a happy road. We feel a higher responsibility to take care of and maintain the sustainable construction.”

When asked about watering the plants and cleaning up the construction site, Ms. Le Thu Hang, a resident of alley 3, immediately affirmed that she was willing to join hands because this was the common property of the entire residential area. Not only Ms. Hang, this spirit of joining hands and contributing is spreading among every resident of residential groups 30 and 31.
