Recently, Pengdao village in Nanan city, Fujian province (China), attracted public attention after a video recording a large scholarship award ceremony, held at the local family church, was posted on social media. It is known that the scholarship fund awarded a total of 217,000 yuan (equivalent to more than 801 million VND).

Dozens of people in the village received educational scholarships (Photo: Jimu).
Accordingly, the scholarship recipients in the clip are 1 student admitted to Tsinghua University as a doctoral candidate, 15 people who will start their master's studies and 46 undergraduate students preparing to enroll.
During the ceremony, these outstanding students wore red sashes inscribed with the words "the glory of the family," and one by one they held incense and bowed before the ancestral tablets.
Public opinion was even more surprised to learn that, to date, 33 residents of this small village have received doctoral degrees from prestigious institutions, including Tsinghua University, the University of Hong Kong, Cambridge University in England, and Cornell University in the United States. Red scrolls bearing the names of those who have earned doctorates are proudly displayed in a large building in the village.
Nestled in a remote mountainous area, this village is home to approximately 6,000 residents. Previously, the villagers struggled with poverty due to limited arable land.
Therefore, the local people are determined to prioritize education for future generations.
Since then, the village has developed a long-standing tradition of valuing education, emphasizing the importance of career guidance for children from an early age.
