Director Quoc Thao and Meritorious Artist Huu Chau
On August 17 at Quoc Thao Stage, Meritorious Artist Huu Chau and director Quoc Thao brought the audience, especially the large number of young people who love art, an inspiring career sharing session.
Not just a conversation, this is a rare moment for the younger generation to directly "touch" the deepest corners of acting, where the experience, knowledge and love for the profession of two master artists spread strongly.
Huu Chau devoted himself to passing on his profession.
Director Quoc Thao - founder of the stage named after him affirmed that this is a valuable opportunity that students and young audiences will hardly have a second time. Because Meritorious Artist Huu Chau is not only a famous actor with a series of memorable roles, but also a "teacher" who knows how to pass on the passion of the profession in a sincere and profound way.
Many young actors and audiences came to the meaningful conversation of Meritorious Artist Huu Chau at Quoc Thao Stage.
He advised the younger generation: "Being a professional is a long journey, requiring more than passion. You must know how to cultivate knowledge and life experiences to step onto the stage with real life experiences, from there you can touch the hearts of the audience."
Director Quoc Thao and Meritorious Artist Huu Chau talk with young actors at Quoc Thao Stage
In the workshop, Meritorious Artist Huu Chau analyzed the subtle aspects of acting: how to delve into a character's inner self, prepare mentally before taking on a role, and how to maintain sincerity in every look and voice.
These lessons are not only theoretical, but he and Quoc Thao have demonstrated them through the roles they have played. Thanks to that, the talk became a lively atmosphere, where the audience and students can sublimate together in a creative space.
Huu Chau has many excellent roles.
Coming from a famous artistic family, Meritorious Artist Huu Chau has affirmed his name through good roles that are widely welcomed by audiences such as: Grandfather in "Roast Pig Stove", Nguyen Trai in "Secrets of Le Chi Garden", Vo Cong in the pure Vietnamese musical "Tien Nga", Lo Quy in "Thunderstorm"... and also made his mark in cinema with the "Best Actor" award of Green Star 2017 for the role of Le Lieu in the movie "Lo To".
Meritorious Artist Huu Chau analyzes voice, stage voice and character psychology for young actors after watching them perform at Quoc Thao Stage.
Besides his artistic activities, he also devoted much of his time to teaching at the University of Theatre and Cinema in Ho Chi Minh City, Hong Van Theatre, and Thien Dang Theatre, contributing to nurturing the next generation of actors.
In particular, Huu Chau always brings his love for Vietnamese history into his lectures, encouraging young people to seek out historical documents and figures and reenact them on stage. For him, that is the way for art to become a bridge between the past and the present, helping young audiences love and be proud of their country.
He confided: "What I hope most is that my students and young actors will preserve something from previous generations to pass on to the future. When we no longer have enough strength to create those looks, you will be the next ones."
The play "Fire Field" will be performed again at Quoc Thao Stage on August 16, 2025.
Huu Chau adds creativity
This talk was held after the re-performance of "Fiery Field" (August 16), a historical play recreating the night of June 15, 1968 in Lang Sau field, where people on the outskirts of the city sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland. In the atmosphere leading up to the 80th anniversary of National Day September 2, the combination of young artists trained at Quoc Thao Stage with veteran names such as Quoc Thao, Minh Nhi, Tuyet Thu... made the value of the play even more sacred.
It can be said that the two adjacent events: a performance and a talk show have created a meaningful chain of connections: the audience enjoyed a revolutionary play full of political content, expressing national pride, and then continued to listen to Meritorious Artist Huu Chau and Quoc Thao "pass on their profession". These are not only acting lessons, but also a flame of passion and belief for the younger generation to continue to step onto the stage path - a path that is inherently full of hardships but also full of glory.
