Windows 11 players on Steam hit 'peak'

Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên04/05/2023

According to Neowin , last month, the Hardware & Software Survey on Valve's Steam platform showed a bleak picture of Windows 11. Accordingly, Microsoft's latest operating system dropped from 30% to 22% in just one month.

There is no clear reason to explain this significant decline in market share, so many believe that this comes from the inconsistent user base between the platforms participating in the survey.

Windows 11 gamers peak on Steam

The April survey results were recently released and show the exact opposite: Windows 11 has regained lost ground and is now at an all-time high. According to Valve , Windows 11 gained 10.98% in April 2023, reaching its peak market share of 33.39%.

Windows 10 still holds the number one position with 61.21% market share, down 12.74% compared to last month. In summary, Windows 10 and 11 currently account for 94.6% of the total number of Steam users who agreed to participate in the survey, the specific statistics for each operating system are as follows:

  • Windows 10 64-bit - 61.21% (-12.74)
  • Windows 11 - 33.39% (+10.98)
  • Windows 7 64-bit - 1.28% (+0.22)
  • Windows 8.1 64-bit - 0.31% (+0.11)
  • Windows 7 - 0.08% (+0.03)

It should be noted that participation in the survey is optional and not rolled out to all users. Its primary goal is to provide a comprehensive picture of the operating system platforms that interact with Steam and help developers tailor their games and technology accordingly. As such, the survey results are not 100% accurate.
