The Kim Bong Ecological Agriculture and Community Tourism Cooperative was established on the basis of the Kim Bong Community Learning Tourism Cooperative, within the framework of the project "Developing sustainable community livelihood models combined with ecotourism to promote socio-economic development, contributing to the protection of biodiversity and ecosystems in the Cu Lao Cham - Hoi An World Biosphere Reserve". The project is funded by the Global Environment Fund and implemented under the leadership of the Hoi An City Women's Union.
According to Ms. Ngo Thi Tuyet Nhung, President of the Women's Union of Hoi An City, the project is being implemented to raise awareness, promote internal resources, and mobilize community participation in Cam Kim in conservation efforts, enhancing responsibility towards the sustainable development of livelihood models.
After nearly two years of implementation, the people of Cam Kim have responded positively and collaborated with the City Women's Union and the project management board. To date, the community in Cam Kim has changed its mindset and understood how to develop community tourism. At the same time, the project has contributed to preserving traditional crafts, improving the environmental landscape, and enhancing the lives of the local people.
“Within the framework of the project, the Women's Union of Hoi An City organized the founding congress of the Kim Bong Ecological Agriculture and Community Tourism Cooperative, for the term 2024-2026. This will create a legal basis for managing the reception and service of tourists in accordance with the law in the coming time,” Ms. Nhung said.
According to Mr. Huynh Ngoc Hung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Cam Kim commune, the achievements of the project funded by the Global Environment Fund are an important foundation for the establishment of the Kim Bong Ecological Agriculture and Community Tourism Cooperative.
The cooperative needs to use the results achieved from the project as a foundation and driving force for continued development. At the same time, it should strengthen effective linkages, focusing on linking tourism development at the Kim Bong craft village center. When each sector operates well, the cooperative will also operate well.
