Given the complex situation caused by heavy rains and flooding in Ha Hoa district, many residents in Viet Tri city and Phu Tho town have called for donations of essential supplies and relief items to support people in the heavily flooded communes of Ha Hoa.

Hien Luong commune is submerged in water.

On the morning of September 10th, Ms. Phung Thi Thu Huong (owner of the Bau Pizza restaurant chain) in Duu Lau ward, Viet Tri city, appealed on her personal Facebook page for everyone to join hands in helping the people of Ha Hoa and Cam Khe districts who were coping with heavy rain, flooding, and rising river levels. Within a few hours of her appeal, she had gathered over 10 tons of goods including bottled water, bread, life jackets, and other necessities. At exactly 1 PM that same day, she and her relief convoy departed from Viet Tri for Ha Hoa, guided by the provincial police force, to deliver essential supplies directly to the people in the district.

Following a call for help on her personal Facebook page, Ms. Huong received many kind-hearted people wanting to assist Ha Hoa.

Ms. Huong shared: “Upon receiving information about the flooding in Ha Hoa district, where many houses and residential areas were submerged, I contacted the district authorities and called on friends, relatives, and even my customers to join hands in supporting the cause. Fortunately, I also received support and cooperation from the transportation unit and functional forces, so the relief work was carried out quickly, promptly, and safely. This shows the spirit of solidarity and mutual assistance of the people of Viet Tri in general and Phu Tho province in particular. Tomorrow, we will go up again to support the people of Cam Khe district.”

One of the trucks carrying essential supplies departed from Viet Tri for Ha Hoa in the early afternoon of September 10th.

Also this afternoon, a convoy of vehicles belonging to residents of Phu Tho town, represented by Ms. Nguyen Thuy Duong (owner of Lavender Studio) in Au Co ward and Ms. Lien Van in Hung Vuong ward, Phu Tho town, brought milk, instant noodles, bread, dried food, bottled water, life jackets, etc., to the people of Hien Luong commune. Ms. Duong said that within just a few hours of calling for donations, many essential supplies from all over had been sent to her house, and many kind-hearted people had donated vehicles, necessary relief supplies, and accompanied her in helping the people.

Residents of Phu Tho town are gathering life jackets to transport as relief supplies to Ha Hoa.

“I never expected that simply posting a small message on social media would receive so much support. It deeply moved me, seeing the heartfelt concern of the town's residents for their fellow countrymen in Ha Hoa. When the local authorities brought us to the area to provide relief, and we witnessed firsthand the devastating effects of the storm and floods on the people there, I and everyone else felt truly heartbroken and even more moved that we were able to do something practical when they needed it most.” – Ms. Duong shared.

Ms. Duong shared photos of her relief trip this afternoon in Hien Luong commune on her personal Facebook page.

Not only Ms. Huong, Ms. Duong, and residents of Viet Tri City or Phu Tho Town, but these days, many people throughout the province are contributing their small share in kind or cash to minimize damage and help people overcome difficulties and isolation caused by storms and floods in Ha Hoa and Cam Khe districts, as well as other localities heavily affected by the storms.

These noble acts of kindness are not only beautiful images and heartwarming stories of human compassion, but also exemplify the admirable values of the Vietnamese people: the spirit of solidarity, mutual support, and loving others as oneself. They affirm the strength of the community, the unity, and the fact that human compassion is always the foundation that helps the Vietnamese people overcome all difficulties and challenges.
