Bayern Munich have officially announced the signing of Ismael Saibari from PSV Eindhoven for a fee of approximately €55 million. The 25-year-old attacking midfielder has signed a contract until June 2031 and will wear the number 34 shirt at the Allianz Arena.
According to several sources, Saibari earns around 10 million euros per year at Bayern, ten times his previous income of approximately 1 million euros per year while playing for PSV. This is a major step forward in the Moroccan international's career after his breakout season in the Netherlands and the 2026 World Cup.
The number 34 jersey also holds special significance for Saibari. He chose this number to pay tribute to his friend Abdelhak Nouri, a former Ajax player who suffered a stroke during a friendly match in 2017 and is still unable to walk on his own.
"I want to continue my journey with him by wearing the number 34 shirt, his final number," Saibari shared on Bayern's official website.
The Spanish-born star is having a memorable World Cup with Morocco. He has scored 3 goals in 4 matches, helping the "Atlas Lions" reach the round of 16. Notably, Saibari successfully converted the decisive penalty that helped Morocco eliminate the Netherlands in the round of 32.
Under coach Vincent Kompany, Saibari is expected to add depth to Bayern's attack. He could play behind striker Harry Kane, partnering with Michael Olise, Luis Diaz, and Jamal Musiala in the German team's attacking system.
Before joining Bayern, Saibari helped PSV win the Eredivisie three seasons in a row and was voted the best player in the league last season. Although he didn't feature in Morocco's journey to the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup, he has risen to become one of the most prominent stars in African football at the moment.
