Vietnamese people are going crazy for OpenClaw.

Vietnam is among the countries with the highest number of OpenClaw users worldwide. The community using the tool has hundreds of thousands of members.

Edge AI and agent assistants are nothing new. But the emergence of OpenClaw, which combines these two solutions, quickly created a global sensation. Its open-source nature and high degree of autonomy provide unlimited application possibilities, depending on the user's ideas, skills, and hardware.

In Vietnam, interest in OpenClaw has also surged recently. Practical applications that are relevant to domestic customers have been developed. However, the platform's open nature and autonomy create security and technical risks, making it difficult to apply at enterprise scale.

Among the group that uses OpenClaw the most.

According to Google Trends keyword data, interest in OpenClaw increased sharply from the beginning of March, when applications of this solution began to be shared. The number of searches for the open-source tool in Vietnam remains small compared to ChatGPT or Gemini. However, it is comparable to Deepseek and Grok. At certain times in March, this keyword was among the most searched terms in the country.

Data from SimilarWeb shows that Vietnam is among the top 5 countries accessing OpenClaw, after China, the US, India, and Indonesia. Website traffic has increased by 900% in the last 3 months.

On social media, edge AI software has also become a topic of discussion in research communities, sharing experiences in using artificial intelligence. The OpenClaw group on Facebook, created by Vietnamese users, has over 100,000 members in a short time since its creation. The community gains tens of thousands of new members every week.

Speaking to Tri Thức - ZNews , Mr. Le Tuan Long, administrator of OpenClawVN, said that since creating the group at the beginning of the year, they have witnessed a sharp increase in new members since March.

“Since researching, I’ve known OpenClaw is a powerful tool. However, I didn’t expect this topic to attract so much interest from Vietnamese people. The current discussion in the group revolves around installation instructions and sharing real-world application cases for automating workflows,” said Mr. Long.

Regarding the participants, the administrators stated that initially, they were primarily people working in the IT field. Recently, as OpenClaw has become more popular, non-tech groups have also joined to learn more.

OpenClaw applications

The explosion of OpenClaw in Vietnam coincided with the Chinese market. According to QQ, users in the world's most populous country quickly found effective solutions to utilize the software and automate workflows. The "one-person company" model also emerged from this, where agents, once established and trained, can sequentially execute requests and perform cross-checks.

This is also one of OpenClaw's greatest strengths. The autonomous loop mechanism observes the working environment, orients itself, and decides the next step based on the initial requirements. In addition to responding to commands, OpenClaw acts autonomously according to a pre-established schedule.

The OpenClaw user community in Vietnam has hundreds of thousands of members after more than two months since its establishment.

Rest of World reports that the emergence of OpenClaw is transforming the Chinese labor market. With its ability to deeply intervene and autonomously manage computer tasks, this system has turned the workplace into a battlefield, where office workers are forced to race against time to avoid being eliminated by the very technology they operate.

Autonomous AI not only threatens jobs but also triggers a dangerous savings paradox. As fears of layoffs mount, middle-class workers in China are choosing to tighten their belts as a precaution.

Skills are what make OpenClaw different. Its open-source nature allows programmers worldwide to design and add functionality. According to Mr. Tuan Long, OpenClaw can now connect with the Zalo chatbot system. Users can interact directly through this popular messaging app in Vietnam.

However, open-source software mechanisms are primarily for programmers to research. The solution also requires background knowledge for the device owner to manage and control AI operations. OpenClaw is designed to run locally (at the edge) or through the API of a large AI service. The first option is secure and safe but requires powerful hardware. Otherwise, the app will be slow to respond and easily overloaded.

Running through the API consumes tokens. OpenClaw is considered to be a significant resource burner compared to traditional chatbots. Furthermore, users' personal data could be exposed when passing through big tech servers.

“In Vietnam, OpenClaw can act as a personal assistant, helping to perform daily tasks completely automatically. Owners can request emails to be sent, daily information to be compiled, and then updated in spreadsheets. More deeply, AI is integrated into smart homes, managing Facebook, YouTube channels, and more.”

"That's a personal perspective, but from a business standpoint, OpenClaw isn't a good option because it's still under development and there are quite a few security concerns," shared Mr. Nguyen Tien Long.
