(Baothanhhoa.vn) - In the autumn of August 1945, under the leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, the Vietnamese people made the great August Revolution, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. Exactly 80 years ago, at the historic Ba Dinh Square, on September 2, 1945, President Ho Chi Minh solemnly declared: “Vietnam has the right to enjoy freedom and independence, and in fact has become a free and independent nation. The entire Vietnamese people are determined to dedicate all their spirit and strength, lives and property to uphold that right to freedom and independence” - that sacred oath of independence is an immortal declaration of the right to national self-determination, becoming the red thread running throughout the journey of nation-building, national defense and national development.

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day on September 2nd, we commemorate the immense contributions of President Ho Chi Minh and the millions of heroic martyrs, compatriots, and soldiers who sacrificed their lives to protect the independence of our nation. From a country under foreign rule, Vietnam has "risen from the mud and shone brightly," taking control of its own destiny and gradually asserting its position on the international stage.

In that context, Thanh Hoa has always made a special contribution, serving as a solid rear base providing manpower and resources during the two resistance wars. In the process of reform, Thanh Hoa has made breakthroughs with key national projects such as the Nghi Son Economic Zone and industrial, energy, service, and tourism complexes, creating new growth drivers.

During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh instructed Thanh Hoa to become a "model province." Today, Thanh Hoa is gradually realizing that aspiration, becoming a new growth pole in the North of the country, contributing to the nation's entry into an era of prosperous, civilized, and thriving development.

Continuing the oath of independence of September 2nd is not only about upholding sovereignty but also about the mission of creating prosperity and happiness for the people. In the context of integration and the Fourth Industrial Revolution, our country needs a great aspiration: to make Vietnam a developed, high-income nation by the middle of the 21st century. Thanh Hoa, along with the rest of the country, must unleash the power of great unity, promote the tradition of self-reliance and self-improvement, focus on building a high-quality workforce, encourage innovation, and create a transparent and efficient investment environment. Every citizen of Thanh Hoa needs to be aware of their responsibility to continue the oath of independence through practical actions: diligent work, creative learning, and building a prosperous and beautiful homeland.

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day, we are even more proud and grateful to the preceding generations, and we pledge to work together to continue fulfilling that oath with a desire for development. With a spirit of unity and aspiration for progress, Thanh Hoa province vows to join the whole country in turning the oath of independence into reality, building a prosperous and powerful Vietnam, standing shoulder to shoulder with the world's leading nations.
