(CLO) On the morning of February 18th, in Hanoi , the Youth Theatre held a press conference to launch the special musical "Fire from the Earth," aiming to commemorate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Hanoi City Party Committee (March 17, 1930 - March 17, 2025).
Speaking at the press conference, Meritorious Artist Cao Ngoc Anh, General Director and Deputy Director of the Youth Theatre, said: "'Fire from the Earth' is the story of the life and revolutionary career of Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu - the first official Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee. With fervent patriotism and profound revolutionary awareness, Nguyen Ngoc Vu, along with his family and friends, as well as many other segments of Hanoi's population, including urban intellectuals, participated in the revolution with unwavering faith in the revolutionary ideals guided by Leader Nguyen Ai Quoc."
He understood that the humiliation of losing his country could only be resolved through revolutionary struggle to regain independence and freedom, even if it meant sacrificing his youth in prison, or even his life for the national liberation revolution, and he absolutely refused to be enslaved.
Meritorious Artist Cao Ngọc Ánh (fourth from the left), General Director and Deputy Director of the Youth Theatre, shared her thoughts at the press conference.
The musical "Fire from the Earth" is the flame of patriotism, of faith in a bright future, the flame of the struggle for national liberation, the flame of pioneering heroes who sacrificed themselves and inspired all strata of the people (intellectuals, workers, farmers...) leading to the revolutionary Autumn Uprising of 1945.
"By inspiring like-minded individuals to continue on this challenging yet glorious journey, 'Fire from the Earth' is a sacred flame in the hearts of the people, symbolizing undying spirit and faith. The Earth represents the people, symbolizing the Party igniting a flame in the darkness of slavery. This flame is born and burns brightly from the people because the Party itself was born from the nation's aspiration for independence and freedom," emphasized Meritorious Artist Cao Ngoc Anh.
According to Meritorious Artist Cao Ngoc Anh, "Fire from the Earth" is not a psychological drama but a simple epic that explores the story from real characters, set in 1930 when the Communist Party of Vietnam was just founded, so that viewers can feel the image of the people's will and the Party's will from the early days of its establishment.
The creative and staging team of "Fire from the Earth" has successfully performed many musicals, including stage director Dao Duy Anh, a young director from the Youth Theatre but with extensive experience in conveying the psychology of the roles to the actors, always creating a sublime inspiration for the characters he creates... Notably, the performance features the creative contribution of People's Artist - Deputy Director of the Department of Performing Arts - General Choreographer Tran Ly Ly. She was honored with the "Artist Award" for her outstanding dance works titled "Heaven," "Mature Earth," and "Drought." With her talent and experience, People's Artist Tran Ly Ly is a key factor in the success of the performance in terms of visual language.

Two talented young actors from the National Opera and Ballet Theatre also participate in the program: Đình Khánh as Ông Toản (Nguyễn Ngọc Vũ's father) and Bùi Trang as Thủy (Nguyễn Ngọc Vũ's girlfriend).
Meritorious Artist Nguyen Si Tien, Director of the Youth Theatre and Artistic Director of the program, shared: “With the youthful energy of a national-level theatre, the Youth Theatre maintains its faith, passion, and enthusiasm to integrate deeply with the flow of world culture. Besides the outstanding performances that have left a mark on the audience, recently the theatre has continued to create and develop new musical theatre productions to adapt to and suit current theatrical trends, meeting the diverse artistic needs of the public in this new era.”
The musical "Fire from the Earth" will officially premiere on March 15th and 16th, 2025 at the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Labor Cultural Palace, 91 Tran Hung Dao Street, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi. Initially, it will be performed for State leaders, Party leaders, and leaders of central and local ministries, departments, and agencies under the Hanoi City administration.
This segment is from the musical 'Fire from the Earth' performed by the cast of the Youth Theatre.
Regarding the stage design concept for the musical "Long from the Earth," Director Cao Ngoc Anh and Art Director - People's Artist Do Doan Bang agreed on the following criteria: the stage will be presented through dynamic modules that can be moved and rotated to effectively transform the space through the scenes. The design will incorporate characteristic forms of old Hanoi streets and architectural and interior features of houses and street corners, along with the atmosphere of Hanoi in the early 20th century. 3D mapping technology using high-power projectors (30-40kW, not LED screens) to color the entire or part of the stage will be used throughout the performance, contributing to illustrating or dividing the space, creating the atmosphere of the scene, and opening up the performance space to evoke emotions and stimulate the audience's imagination in a more impressive way. |
