Transportation infrastructure has made a strong breakthrough.
After more than four years of construction, on January 15, 2026, the Dong Nai Riverfront Road Project (Tran Bien Ward, Dong Nai Province) was officially opened for technical traffic, marking an important milestone towards completion and official operation of the project. The road, over 5km long, runs along the Dong Nai River through Tran Bien Ward. It not only serves as a transportation link but also as a main artery creating an urban landscape along the Dong Nai River, providing advantages for socio -economic development.
The technical opening of the Dong Nai riverside road is a highlight in the vibrant picture of Dong Nai province's transportation infrastructure development in recent years. Prior to this project, Component 3 of the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 project, the section passing through the province, officially opened for technical traffic in December 2025.
Component Project 3 of the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 Project and Component Project 1 of the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway Project are key national transportation infrastructure projects being implemented in the province. Not only do they serve as "backbone" transportation arteries connecting the Southeast region and the inter-regional areas of the Southeast and Southwest, but the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 and the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway are also vital transportation routes connecting to Long Thanh International Airport once it becomes operational.
Following the official technical opening of Component 3 of the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 Project, during a site inspection of Component 1 of the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway Project in January 2026, Provincial Party Committee member and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Ha requested that Component 1 of the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway Project be technically opened to traffic before the Lunar New Year 2026.
On the investor's side, the Director of the Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board, Dinh Tien Hai, stated: With the current progress, contractors are striving to complete the technical opening of Component 1 of the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway Project before the Lunar New Year 2026. They are also aiming to complete this project and Component 3 of the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 Project in the first half of 2026.
According to the Provincial People's Committee, Dong Nai province currently has 7 national highways with a total length of approximately 480km. At the same time, 10 expressways have been, are being, or will be implemented, contributing to making Dong Nai one of the leading localities nationwide in the number of expressway projects, with 10 out of 86 projects, accounting for 11.6% of the total number of projects. Simultaneously, the total length of expressways in the province is approximately 393.4km, corresponding to 7.6% of the total length of the national expressway network.
Double-digit growth momentum
In the early days of 2026, as the atmosphere of a new spring approaches, the people of Dong Nai are celebrating another new joy. The Cat Lai Bridge, a transportation infrastructure project connecting Dong Nai with Ho Chi Minh City that has been awaited for decades, officially broke ground on January 15th. At the same time, another transportation infrastructure project connecting Dong Nai with Ho Chi Minh City, the Long Hung Bridge Construction Project, also broke ground.
In Dong Nai province's breakthrough strategy for transportation infrastructure, investing in the construction of transportation routes connecting Dong Nai, Long Thanh Airport, and Ho Chi Minh City is one of the top priorities to be implemented. The groundbreaking ceremonies for the Cat Lai and Long Hung bridge projects are evidence of this.
To achieve double-digit growth targets in 2026 and the 2026-2030 period, Dong Nai province has identified a synchronized and modern transportation system as one of the key drivers of growth.
Comrade Truong Thi Huong Binh, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Department of Finance, stated: Dong Nai Province has the unique characteristic of having almost its entire western length bordering the "mega" city of Ho Chi Minh City. This is a special advantage, opening up great opportunities in connecting transportation, trade, industry, and services; and at the same time strongly spreading investment capital, human resources, and technology from the largest economic center in the country.
Furthermore, Dong Nai province has a comprehensive transportation infrastructure system encompassing all five modes of transport: road, rail, maritime, inland waterway, and air, with Long Thanh Airport being one of the largest projects in Southeast Asia. Therefore, investing in and developing this multimodal transportation infrastructure will create a tremendous impetus for Dong Nai to accelerate its development.
To realize the aforementioned goal, in addition to implementing road transport infrastructure projects, Dong Nai province is coordinating with relevant agencies to implement railway projects passing through the province. Specifically, Dong Nai will cooperate in land clearance for the North-South high-speed railway and the Thu Thiem-Long Thanh railway; and will coordinate the investment in extending the Ben Thanh-Suoi Tien metro line to the Provincial Administrative Center and Long Thanh Airport.
Comrade Nguyen Van Ut, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, affirmed: During its development process, Dong Nai province has always paid great attention to connecting transportation infrastructure. Because without transportation infrastructure connectivity, development is impossible, especially connectivity with Long Thanh Airport.
