Speaking at the press conference announcing the 2023 National Concert "What Remains," organized by Vietnamnet newspaper in collaboration with the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra, journalist Nguyen Van Ba, Editor-in-Chief of Vietnamnet, said that previous "What Remains" concerts have benefited greatly from the contributions of artists such as composer Duong Thu, conductor Le Phi Phi, singers Trong Tan and Dao To Loan… However, in each program, the organizers strive to bring new elements to create appeal. This year's program's main new feature is the participation of young artists, such as conductor Dong Quang Vinh and female singer Do To Hoa… promising to bring a fresh perspective.
"I think that 'What Remains' not only brings musical values and pride, but also provides an opportunity for the organizers to introduce new talents and faces to the national art scene."
"Personally, when I took on the role of Editor-in-Chief of Vietnamnet, it was my first time being responsible for such a large-scale art program, and I was quite nervous and anxious. However, with such a strong team and talented artists, I feel reassured," said Mr. Nguyen Van Ba.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Ba, conductor Le Phi Phi brought something special and captivating to the National Concert "What Remains." It can be said that conductor Le Phi Phi is almost a "monument" in the program. His achievements and previous works will be a source of motivation for young conductors like conductor Dong Quang Vinh to learn from, add new and creative ideas, so that "What Remains" will spread even further in the years to come.
Another innovation in the 2023 "Things That Remain" program is that the organizers invited musician Tran Manh Hung to be the Music Director. For this year's program, musician Tran Manh Hung not only edited but also arranged, harmonized, and orchestrated all the works performed in the program. This creates a unified musical script for this year's concert.
Composer Tran Manh Hung shared: "This year's music takes symphonic music as its foundation, but it also needs to honor national values and not ignore contemporary elements. I hope that 'What Remains 2023' will bring special and impressive emotions to audiences who love classical music in particular and Vietnamese music in general."

National Concert Program "What Remains" 2023: An opportunity for young, talented individuals.
Having been invited to participate in the 2023 National Concert "What Remains" for the first time, singer Do To Hoa said she was very proud to be invited by the organizers to perform in such an important program. "I have been very thoughtful and have researched the works 'The Shadow of the Kơ Nia Tree' and 'Bright Moon Over Two Regions' to be performed in the program, to find the most inspiring way to convey them to the audience," Do To Hoa expressed.

Also at the press conference, conductor Dong Quang Vinh said that he felt nervous and shaky taking on the role of conductor in a national-level concert program like this. However, for artists, nervousness and a little tremor can actually help them to perform more brilliantly on stage.
"This is also a challenge for me, because previously, programs hosted by Le Phi Phi with classic works have brought a lot of emotion to the audience and have been very successful. So, to say that surpassing this will be a huge challenge for me. I can only say that I will try my best to make the works as polished as possible. At the same time, I will try to bring as much emotion as possible to the audience for each piece. I will have to read and study the works, create the scores, and work with each musician and singer to ensure smooth coordination during rehearsals," conductor Dong Quang Vinh shared.
The 2023 National Concert "What Remains" will introduce to the audience famous works that have stood the test of time such as: "Winter Coat" (Do Nhuan), "Homeland Lullaby" (Van Thanh Nho), "Melody of the Fatherland" (Tran Tien), "Beloved Fatherland" (Ho Bac), "Going to the Mountains" (Hoang Viet), "Vietnamese Birds" (Van Cao)... with new arrangements. This year's National Concert "What Remains" will also introduce new songs loved by many young people such as: "My Kool Vietnam" (Thanh Bui) and "Vietnamese Hearts" (Phuong Uyen).
Through performances by renowned artists in the field of classical chamber music such as Meritorious Artist Dang Duong, Pham Thu Ha, Do To Hoa, Pham Khanh Ngoc, Dao Mac; alongside vocalists Tung Duong and the Oplus band, a diverse range of vocal styles was created.
The National Concert Program "Things That Remain 2023" will take place on September 2nd at the Hanoi Grand Opera House.
