Proximity and tourism development in the southern part of the province

During the April 30th and May 1st holidays this year, the Ham Kiem – Tien Thanh expressway will be open to traffic, with its starting point at kilometer 14 in Ham Kiem commune. This means that when exiting the expressway at kilometer 14 in Ham Kiem, vehicles will cross National Highway 1A to enter the Ham Kiem – Tien Thanh lane, leading to NovaWorld Phan Thiet quickly, covering only a few kilometers.

The Ham Kiem – Tien Thanh route will be opened to traffic on April 30, 2024.

According to the leaders of Ham Thuan Nam District People's Committee, on March 19, 2024, the last household in Ham Thuan Nam District, owning 58,005.3 of land along the 1.35 km Ham Kiem – Tien Thanh route, finally agreed to hand over the land after a period of delay. On March 20, 2024, this household removed the dragon fruit trellises, and the construction unit immediately mobilized vehicles, equipment, and personnel to begin construction.

Currently, 6.35 out of 7.7 km of the road have been completed, reaching 82.5%, with Phan Thiet City completing 2.19 out of 2.19 km (100%) and Ham Thuan Nam District completing 4.16 out of 5.51 km (75.5%). Thus, the final hurdle in land clearance for the Ham Kiem – Tien Thanh road has been overcome, after a long period of effort by Phan Thiet City and Ham Thuan Nam District to clear 34 hectares of land in the two localities, involving 91 individuals and 3 organizations. Since the commencement of construction in mid-November 2021, the road construction has progressed slowly according to the land handover schedule from the two districts, leading the construction unit to request extensions of the completion time several times. Previously, according to the directives of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee, the Ham Kiem – Tien Thanh road had to be completed and opened to traffic before January 31, 2024. However, on January 9, 2024, the People's Committee of Ham Thuan Nam District issued Official Letter No. 17/UBND-PTQD requesting an extension of the time for compensation and land clearance for the remaining 58,005.3 m2 of land, approximately 1,350 m in length, of the project, to be completed no later than March 19, 2024. At that time, the construction unit requested an extension to complete the road in June 2024. However, the provincial leadership required it to be completed before April 30, 2024. Therefore, receiving the final land allocation, including 1.35 km of land and assets on the land such as dragon fruit trellises, electricity and water systems, and then accelerating construction for more than a month to complete the 7.7 km road connecting Ham Kiem to Tien Thanh, will be a challenge for the construction unit.

According to the leaders of 515 Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company, the contractor for the Ham Kiem - Tien Thanh route, if the final land area is handed over in one go, the company will arrange for overtime and extra shifts to ensure the progress meets the provincial target of April 30, 2024, for the entire route to be open to traffic.

It has both distance and speed.

The opening of the Ham Kiem – Tien Thanh road during the upcoming April 30th and May 1st holidays is a special event, as it complements, completes, and provides convenience for the southern tourism hub of the province. Last year, during the April 30th and May 1st holidays, the Dau Giay – Phan Thiet expressway opened. At kilometer 14 in Ham Kiem commune (Ham Thuan Nam district), vehicles exiting the expressway to enter Phan Thiet had to follow National Highway 1A, then turn onto Au Co and Lac Long Quan roads in Tien Loi commune to reach Tien Thanh commune, and finally the NovaWorld Phan Thiet coastal tourism and entertainment complex, the heart of southern tourism. This meant an additional 19 kilometers, a roundabout route, narrow roads, and high traffic density, which was daunting for tourists after the long journey. Nevertheless, with its 1,000-hectare scale and hundreds of amenities catering to every need from accommodation, dining, sports, and entertainment, which are gradually being completed, coupled with its professionalism in attracting and organizing large-scale events and festivals, NovaWorld Phan Thiet attracts tens of millions of domestic and international tourists to visit and experience. Most recently, during the 2024 Lunar New Year, with the VibeFest festival taking place from the 3rd to the 8th day of the Lunar New Year, NovaWorld Phan Thiet welcomed 180,000 visitors for accommodation, sightseeing, and entertainment, out of a total of 205,000 visitors for the entire province.

During the April 30th and May 1st holidays this year, the Ham Kiem – Tien Thanh expressway opened to traffic, with its starting point at kilometer 14 in Ham Kiem commune. This means that upon exiting the expressway at kilometer 14 in Ham Kiem, vehicles will cross National Highway 1A directly onto the Ham Kiem – Tien Thanh lane, leading to NovaWorld Phan Thiet quickly, covering only a few kilometers. This demonstrates that tourists benefit from both distance and speed when traveling to the southern tourism region of the province, which currently boasts dozens of diverse coastal resorts in Tien Thanh, Thuan Quy, Ke Ga, etc. Among them, NovaWorld is expected to be a top destination in Southern Vietnam, aiming to attract 5 million visitors, contributing to Binh Thuan's goal of 9.5 million visitors in 2024.

According to the leaders of NovaWorld Phan Thiet, with the Ham Kiem – Tien Thanh road, visitors to NovaWorld Phan Thiet will find it much more convenient than before. Besides the rich array of accommodation, entertainment, and culinary facilities already in operation, NovaWorld Phan Thiet will continue to strive to bring into operation attractive entertainment facilities in the near future: Wonder Hill – a unique and large-scale project expected to become a check-in landmark of NovaWorld Phan Thiet and Binh Thuan province; Dino Park with nearly 100 dinosaur models of various species; Safari Cafe and Madagascar – a semi-wild safari cafe and Madagascar with a collection of life-sized animal models;... The expectation is to gradually make Phan Thiet – Binh Thuan a bright spot on the Asian regional tourism map.
