The 104-page book compiles documents and information from articles in the city's press reporting on activities and events marking important historical moments when the city was honored to bear the name of President Ho Chi Minh. The book sequentially reviews important time milestones, including: 1946 - 1976 - 2026.
On July 2, 1976, the National Assembly of Vietnam passed a resolution officially naming the city of Saigon - Gia Dinh as Ho Chi Minh City.

In 2026, after 50 years since officially being named after President Ho Chi Minh, Ho Chi Minh City will have expanded its administrative boundaries and gained new impetus for development, with the goal in the near future of "becoming a civilized, modern city, a center of innovation, dynamic, integrated, leading in the country's industrialization, having a prominent position in Southeast Asia, ranking among the top 100 global cities, livable and possessing a world-class innovation ecosystem, belonging to the high-income group," as stated in the document of the First Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, term 2025-2030.
