Pain in the eyebrows is often a sign of a tension headache.

If you experience headaches around your eyebrows, the cause could be due to the following issues:

Headaches caused by stress

Headaches around the eyebrows are a common symptom of tension headaches. The pain is usually dull, persistent, and appears in the late afternoon or evening, after a stressful day of work or study.

Common symptoms of tension headaches include a feeling of tightness and dull pain in the scalp, face, shoulders, and neck. If tension headaches last for more than 15 days in a month, they are considered chronic. Measures such as massage and yoga can help reduce this discomfort.

Sinusitis

The eyebrows are located directly above the nasal sinuses, so sinusitis can irritate and easily cause pain in the eyebrows. Besides the pain radiating from the eyebrow area to the forehead, sinusitis can also be accompanied by nasal congestion, facial sinus pressure, sore throat, and even bad breath.

To treat sinusitis, doctors will typically prescribe antibiotics, nasal sprays, and other over-the-counter medications to reduce pain and pressure inside the nasal sinuses.

Glaucoma

When glaucoma is mentioned, people usually think of it as a disease that impairs vision. But in reality, glaucoma also causes pain and tightness around the eyes, including the eyebrows.

Characteristic symptoms of glaucoma include pain in the eyebrows and forehead, redness of the eye, blurred vision, and seeing rainbows or halos. The condition is treated with methods to reduce pressure inside the eye, including medication, fluid aspiration, or surgery.

Temporal arteritis

Our faces have many blood vessels. If these blood vessels have problems, it often causes pain. Eyebrow pain can be a symptom of temporal arteritis. Inflammation of the temporal arteries causes pain around the legs and temples, impaired vision, along with fever and fatigue. Several medications can effectively relieve this pain, according to Medical News Today .
