"There are no weak students, only students who haven't received the right attention" is the guiding principle that has guided Mr. Dam Thanh Lac, the principal of Giong Rieng High School, throughout his 26 years of dedication to the cause of educating future generations.

For Mr. Lac, every student is a green sprout that needs to be nurtured with love and trust. Mr. Lac vividly remembers a story from 1999 when, as a young teacher, he impulsively reprimanded a student for frequently being late and not knowing their lessons. The next day, the student skipped school. Distraught, he cycled over 10km to the student's home to persuade them to return. When he learned that the student was an orphan, living with their elderly grandmother, and had to get up at 4 a.m. every day to take a boat to school, Mr. Lac was speechless. That afternoon, Mr. Lac told himself: "A teacher should not only teach but also know how to love their students first and foremost." And from a dedicated teacher to an administrator in many organizations, Mr. Lac has always clearly demonstrated a leadership style that is disciplined, compassionate, and responsible.

In his administrative work, Mr. Lac focuses on school education , paying attention to tutoring weak students and helping poor students. All policies and plans of the school are aimed at the progress of each student, because Mr. Lac believes: "Education is not only about creating knowledge but also about shaping character so that students become useful members of society."

Not only is he an exemplary manager, Mr. Lac is also a role model in the patriotic emulation movement of the education sector. Mr. Lac has been honored with the Third-Class Labor Medal, a commendation from the Prime Minister , five times awarded the title of outstanding worker at the provincial level, and numerous awards at the ministerial and provincial levels for writing competitions and educational initiatives. Mr. Lac's efforts have not only brought him personal achievements and prestigious titles but have also contributed to the school's long history in education. Giồng Riềng High School has achieved many outstanding accomplishments, such as meeting national standards level 2 and achieving quality accreditation level 3 in 2024; for many consecutive years, the school has had students excelling at the national level, with a 100% graduation rate, and has consistently been recognized as an outstanding labor collective. From the 2020-2021 school year to the 2024-2025 school year, the school has received the Government's emulation flag twice. The company received a commendation flag from the Provincial People's Committee once and a certificate of merit twice.

According to Mr. Lac, the patriotic emulation movement is not just a slogan, but a daily action in every lesson and every small deed for the students. From the sincere heart of the teacher, the flame of emulation spreads throughout the collective, becoming a driving force that helps teachers and students move forward together. "The greatest reward for me is not a certificate of merit, but the growth of my students. And emulation is about patriotism, about loving my profession, and about loving my students," Mr. Lac expressed.

People's healthcare

As the Party Secretary and Director of An Giang General Hospital, Dr. Nguyen Duy Tan has always upheld a high sense of responsibility, performed his assigned duties well, and worked with the unit's staff to achieve the set targets and plans.

In September 2021, during the COVID-19 outbreak, Dr. Tan was assigned by the Department of Health for five weeks to manage the Phu Tan District Health Center (formerly) in the fight against the epidemic. During his participation in epidemic prevention and control, Dr. Tan, along with the steering committee, established isolation and treatment areas for F0 and F1 cases and was awarded a certificate of merit by the People's Committee of An Giang Province (formerly) for his outstanding achievements in COVID-19 prevention and control. For many years, Dr. Tan has been recognized as a provincial-level emulation fighter; awarded the title of "Outstanding Physician"; and received a certificate of merit from the People's Committee of An Giang Province for his achievements in implementing Directive 05-CT/TW of the Politburo on promoting the study and emulation of Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality, and style during the 2016-2021 period.

Since November 2022, entrusted by the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee, and the Department of Health with the responsibility of Director of An Giang Central General Hospital (now An Giang General Hospital), Dr. Tan has performed his duties well with a high sense of responsibility, working with the unit to achieve the set targets and plans. Dr. Tan always upholds the principle of democratic centralism, regularly listens to and accepts feedback; respects the collective and colleagues, and combats negative behaviors that cause internal disunity. At the same time, he always cares for the material and spiritual well-being of staff and workers; regularly seeks to understand and listen to the thoughts, aspirations, suggestions, and proposals of the departments and wards under his charge.

Dr. Tan has conducted numerous scientific research projects, such as applying the Morisky scale to assess drug adherence in Parkinson's patients at the hospital's neurology clinic; evaluating the practice of using gloves and masks by medical staff in the Intensive Care and Toxicology Department and the Surgical Intensive Care Department; researching the treatment outcomes of traumatic brain injury patients in the Surgical Intensive Care Department; and the effectiveness of improving the treatment process for cerebral infarction using thrombolytic drugs… contributing to improving the quality of treatment, befitting a first-class, specialized, and leading hospital in the province's healthcare sector.

Growing clean rice enriches our homeland.

The Duong Go Lo Agricultural Cooperative in Long Thanh commune was established at the end of 2015 with 54 members and a total production area of ​​over 85 hectares, mainly for rice cultivation. To date, the cooperative has expanded its production to a total area of ​​225 hectares with 162 members. Farmers in the cooperative use clean rice cultivation methods and high-quality rice varieties such as Dai Thom 8, ST24, ST25, and DS1 Japanese rice. Simultaneously, they provide services such as irrigation, land preparation, contract supply of fertilizers, pesticides, rice seeds, harvesting, and product marketing for their members.

To help farmers increase their profits, as harvest season approaches, Mr. Nguyen Hong Phuong - Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director of Duong Go Lo Agricultural Cooperative - along with the cooperative's leadership, invited more than 10 companies and businesses to participate in an auction to purchase rice, negotiating conditions regarding harvest dates, transportation, and payment methods, ensuring stable outlets for farmers' produce. Currently, the cooperative has contracts with Loc Troi Group and Thoai Son Rice Co., Ltd. to supply rice seeds and guarantee product purchase. These businesses are purchasing 225 hectares of land used for producing DS1 and Dai Thom 8 Japanese rice varieties from cooperative members at prices 200-500 VND/kg higher than the market price; the average yield reached 6.8 tons/ha, contributing to a total revenue of 8.6 billion VND/225 hectares.

According to Mr. Hong Phuong, the cooperative hopes that the local authorities and province will have mechanisms and policies to support banks with preferential loans, repayable gradually without collateral, so that the cooperative can have the financial capacity to invest in machinery such as plows, cultivators, combine harvesters, and seeders. This aims at the common goal of increasing income for cooperative members; providing capital to purchase agricultural supplies from factories at cost price, investing in the production of clean, high-quality rice, reducing intermediary costs, increasing profits, and enabling them to prosper in their homeland.
