| Aedus Crew always attracts attention whenever they perform. |
Aedus Crew launched in 2024, stemming from a simple desire to have a "home" where people with shared passions could bond for the long term. To date, the group has 20 official members, mostly students; some have graduated and are working in the medical field but continue to be involved.
Many members of Aedus started out in choreography and performing cover versions of dances by famous K-pop groups. From these familiar dance steps, the group gradually expanded their creative scope, delving deeper into hip-hop, waacking, tutting, and other elements of street dance. They chose dance over other art forms because it offered Aedus a broader space for individual personalities to be expressed and harmonized. Each member possesses a unique style, and this diversity helps Aedus find common ground: collaborating and performing together while maintaining their individual identities.
As an early member of Aedus Crew, Nguyen Phuoc Thu Trang shared: "As a dance group affiliated with a university, Aedus faced unique challenges. The lineup changed every academic year, and overlapping practice schedules made coordinating training times incredibly difficult. In the vibrant student life environment, Aedus inevitably encountered initial difficulties in maintaining and developing its membership."
Under current conditions, Aedus Crew primarily practices on school grounds or in the area around the National High School Monument – open spaces close to the community. Lacking the facilities of professional studios, the group chooses to "get acquainted" with the open ground, the river breeze, and the gaze of passersby. These practice sessions sometimes unintentionally turn into small performances, helping to bring street dance closer to the public in Hue .
“Hue is tranquil but still very open to new things. In recent years, the community has also embraced hip-hop with a more positive view. It is the traditional values and serene atmosphere of Hue that have become a source of inspiration for us in our creations and performances,” Thu Trang expressed.
From a stylistic and professional standpoint, Xiao Lian, a member of the group, said that they currently pursue a showcase dance format, where members perform and combine various genres in a single act. “Choreography remains the main element, alongside waacking, tutting, and hip-hop. When creating a dance routine, we are flexible according to the performance's purpose. For student programs or volunteer activities, the dance will be simple and cheerful; while for competitions, the group prioritizes the emotional flow, the story, and the message the performance aims to convey,” Xiao Lian explained.
Recalling memorable milestones in their journey, the members of Aedus couldn't hide their emotions when mentioning the "Youth Melody" competition organized by the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Hue University in November 2025. Tieu Lien remembered: "That was a time of intense but also the most memorable training period for us. Standing on stage and hearing the cheers from the audience, all the members gave it their all. Winning first prize in the dance category was recognition of the group's efforts, not only in the competition but also since the early days of its establishment."
