The "tall, majestic trees" amidst the vast forest.

Reputable individuals among ethnic minority communities are likened to "tall trees casting long shadows," playing a significant role in ethnic affairs and serving as a reliable bridge between the Party, the State, and the people. Over the past period, the team of reputable individuals in the communes of Khanh Vinh district has demonstrated a sense of responsibility, prestige, and dedication, making positive contributions to the development of the locality in particular and the province in general.

Pioneering in every field.

Over the years, Mr. Pi Nang Lieng (Suoi Cat village, Tay Khanh Vinh commune) has always been loved and respected by the villagers for his exemplary conduct, diligence, and hard work. In particular, he has raised five children to be successful adults with stable jobs in government agencies and schools. Having served as the head of Suoi Cat village for many years, he understands the lives and customs of the local people. To build trust within the community, he and his family always play a leading and exemplary role in all areas. He has actively participated with the village elders in the "All People Protect National Security" movement; regularly disseminating the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws and regulations through easily understandable and accessible methods. This has raised people's awareness of the subversive plots and tactics of hostile and reactionary forces.

Mr. Cao Dang (A Xay village, Tay Khanh Vinh commune) is also a respected figure well-liked by the villagers. Having previously served as the Party Secretary of the former Khanh Nam commune, he has accumulated extensive experience in leadership, mobilizing the masses, and developing the local economy . After retirement, he continued to play an exemplary role in production, boldly transforming farming methods. Recognizing the low yield of upland rice cultivation, he boldly switched to wet rice farming; simultaneously, he dug ponds for fish farming, planted sugarcane, and cultivated green pomelos. He also actively shared his experience, guided villagers on farming and livestock raising, and encouraged them to unite and help each other develop the economy.

In Ben Khe village (Bac Khanh Vinh commune), Mr. Cao Van Nghiep not only regularly disseminates the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws to the people, but also cares about preserving traditional cultural identity. In 2010, he established a gong ensemble with 10 members, including the elderly and the younger generation. For many years, the resounding gong sounds in the mountains and forests have not only brought joy during festivals, but also contributed to nurturing love for the homeland, arousing national pride, and strengthening the bonds within the Raglai community.

Ms. Cao Thi Ngoc Thuy, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Bac Khanh Vinh commune, assessed: “Through their exemplary conduct and dedication, influential figures among ethnic minority communities in the locality have actively participated in disseminating information and mobilizing people to comply well with the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws; preserving and promoting the fine traditional cultural values of ethnic groups; and consolidating national unity. This has significantly contributed to economic development, poverty reduction, cultural development, and maintaining political security and social order in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.”

A shining example, a nucleus of unity.

Currently, the team of influential individuals in the communes of Khánh Vĩnh, Trung Khánh Vĩnh, Nam Khánh Vĩnh, Tây Khánh Vĩnh, and Bắc Khánh Vĩnh comprises 35 people, primarily of the Raglai ethnic group, alongside T'rin, Ê Đê, and Kinh people. These are skilled farmers, village elders, artisans, religious leaders, village front-line officials, and exemplary retired officials with extensive practical experience, a deep understanding of customs and traditions, and a positive influence within the community.

At a meeting with influential figures from the Khánh Vĩnh area in February, Mr. Nguyễn Thanh Hà, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, affirmed that in recent times, the positive results in the province's socio-economic development, especially in mountainous areas and ethnic minority regions, have clearly shown the persistent and silent contributions of influential figures. These are shining examples, nuclei of unity, contributing to spreading good values in the community and strengthening the people's trust in the Party and the State. In the context of the province continuing to promote the goals of rapid and sustainable development and improving the material and spiritual lives of the people, the role of influential figures becomes even more important. The Provincial People's Committee always considers the task of caring for and fully and promptly implementing policies for influential figures as a regular and long-term responsibility. At the same time, we hope that the team of reputable individuals will continue to work alongside Party committees and authorities at all levels in disseminating information and mobilizing ethnic minority communities to promote solidarity, self-reliance, and self-improvement, actively engage in production, eliminate outdated customs, preserve ethnic cultural identity, and work together to build an increasingly prosperous homeland.
