The "red seeds" in the heart of the Catholic community.

The Lac Thuy region (formerly part of Hoa Binh province) has over 400 Catholic Party members, playing the role of "red seeds" within the parish. These Party members mostly participate in Party branches under the Party Committees of Lac Thuy and An Nghia communes. They not only spearhead patriotic emulation movements but also serve as a bridge between the Party, the government, and the Catholic community.

Party members who are wholeheartedly devoted to the people.

"Leave any difficult task to Lien Son!" - this statement, imbued with unwavering confidence, from Comrade Pham Van Duc, Secretary of the Party Committee of Lac Thuy commune, piqued our curiosity and led us to Lien Son village - an area where over 90% of the Party members are Catholic.

With the mindset of "living the Gospel in the heart of the nation," nearly 40 Party members of Lien Son village Party branch have chosen to live a life of "good deeds and virtuous conduct," upholding religious principles while simultaneously fulfilling the pioneering role of Party members. As a result, this area is not only notable for its clean and beautiful concrete roads but also for being the first in the commune to achieve advanced new rural development status, winning third prize for model new rural residential area at the provincial level.

The

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ly, a Catholic Party member from Tan Lam village branch, An Nghia commune, opened a garment manufacturing business, creating stable jobs for many local women.

In 2024, the village's average per capita income reached over 70 million VND, higher than the commune average. This achievement is the culmination of the solidarity, exemplary conduct, and dedication of Party members like Mr. Vu Quoc Bao, Ms. Trinh Thi Mung, and many others. They not only took the lead in donating land, contributing labor and resources to build public welfare projects, but also inspired and connected the spirit of "every citizen is a soldier" in building a bright, green, clean, and beautiful residential area.

According to Mr. Vu Quoc Bao, when they started building the model residential area, within just six months, the people of Lien Son voluntarily contributed tens of billions of dong, from land and assets to cash and labor. “To gain people's trust, Party members must match words with actions. If we have heart and vision, the people will follow,” Mr. Bao shared. He believes the most effective way to promote the Party and State's policies in this Catholic area is through setting a good example, as this is the most vivid and clear evidence of the Party and State's correct policies and guidelines.

Lac Thuy commune has approximately 10% Catholic population, of which nearly 30% are Party members. The rate of Catholic parishioners participating in health insurance is over 90%. Within the Catholic community, there are two cooperatives run by Catholic parishioners, operating effectively and contributing to stable livelihoods. For many years, the area has not experienced any security or public order hotspots. These figures demonstrate the important role of Catholic Party members in the local political and social life.

It was in this very land, more than 90 years ago, that the first Party cell of the former Hoa Binh Provincial Party Committee was established. Today, the revolutionary flame continues to be ignited in the hearts of the parishioners through the growth and spread of the grassroots Party organization.

Three party members, one home, one belief.

Nestled amidst the lush, fruit-filled gardens of Tan Phu village, An Nghia commune, the small house of Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Phu's family is always filled with laughter and conversations about the village, the commune, and the development of their homeland. Within that house live three Party members from two generations who share a common ideal, a common belief, and a burning passion for dedication.

It took several attempts to finally meet all three members. Mr. Phu was busy with Party work in the village, while his two sons, both young Party members, were working closely with the local government to disseminate information about the two levels of local authority and raise awareness among the villagers during the rainy season and floods...

Even after retirement, Mr. Phu did not stop working for the Party. With over 30 years of Party membership, he served many terms as the Party branch secretary of the village, earning the trust of Party members and the people for his closeness to the people, responsibility, and dedication. "I always think that to be an exemplary Party member, one must be a good Catholic and a good citizen. Contributing is how I express my faith and love for my homeland," he shared.

When the local area began building new rural areas, Mr. Phu was one of the first to "break the rules," transforming his neglected garden and boldly borrowing capital to invest in a model garden. Over 4,000 square meters of land were covered with fruit trees and medicinal plants, yielding a steady income of over 300 million VND per year. Without much persuasion, this model became a vivid example to encourage villagers to change their mindset and practices. As a pioneering Party member, he initiated the model garden movement, which spread throughout the commune. For many years, the people of Tan Phu village have consistently had an average per capita income 4-6 million VND higher than the commune average.

Even more commendable, his two children were raised by their father's exemplary conduct in all his actions, and both joined the Party. Instead of rigid admonitions, Mr. Phu chose to " educate through practice," through Party branch meetings, campaigns to encourage people to donate land and contribute labor, and through his tireless efforts in tending to crops and livestock from dawn till dusk.

The practical actions of Party members in parishes like Lac Thuy and An Nghia have contributed to illuminating the image of Party members in the hearts of the parishioners with the motto "Living the Gospel in the heart of the nation, serving God, serving the Fatherland." This is also the core of creating social consensus, the foundation for building national unity, and the solid basis for the development of Party committees and government today and in the future.
