Preserving national cultural identity

The launching ceremony of two folk culture clubs in Nuoc Nhi village, Nga Hai - Son Thanh village, and the traditional performing arts team of Village 3 (Khanh Vinh commune) was held in the space of Khanh Vinh Ethnic Boarding Secondary School. This served as a message to the younger generation about preserving and promoting the beauty and values of the traditional culture of ethnic minorities in the area. The singing and dancing performances at the ceremony partly demonstrated the love and responsibility of each club member and performing arts team towards their ethnic traditions. The sounds of the stone xylophone and gong, combined with folk dances and distinctive folk songs, vividly expressed the feelings and souls of the ethnic minorities in Khanh Vinh commune. Ms. Pi Nang Thi Da Ri said: “I am very proud to be a member of the Village 3 performing arts team. From here, I have the opportunity to express my abilities and love for performing arts; at the same time, I contribute to preserving the songs, dances, and music passed down from our ancestors. My wish and that of other members of the team is to be given the opportunity to participate in performances and introduce more of our ethnic culture and arts to everyone.” Niê H'Cao Thanh Thủy (a 6th-grade student at Khanh Vinh Ethnic Boarding Secondary School) shared: “Watching the performances at the launch of the clubs and performing arts teams, I appreciate my ethnic traditions even more. I hope to see more ethnic performing arts programs like this.”

The song and dance performance
The song and dance performance "Gong Festival Night" was performed by members of the cultural troupe of Village 3 (Khanh Vinh commune).

For Tay Ninh Hoa commune, the launch of four folk culture clubs in four villages: Buon Dung, Buon Lac, Suoi Mit, and Song Bung is facilitated by the fact that these clubs are essentially established on the basis of the four folk culture clubs previously established by the People's Committee of the former Ninh Hoa town in November 2024. This will contribute positively to preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of the Ede ethnic group (Buon Dung, Buon Lac) and the Raglai ethnic group (Suoi Mit, Song Bung) in the commune. Currently, each club has 20 members and will carry out cultural and artistic activities, teaching folk songs, folk dances, traditional musical instruments, and customs. In addition, club members will represent their localities in performances for residents, tourists, and at art festivals and competitions at all levels.

“Many members of our club have been together for quite a long time. Based on that, we will continue to maintain solidarity, actively participate in activities, and promote the role of preserving and spreading national cultural identity, contributing to the development of culture and tourism in the commune,” shared Ms. Cao Thi Nu, Head of the Folk Culture Club of Song Bung village.

Spreading values

The establishment of folk culture clubs and traditional performing arts groups of the Ede and Raglai ethnic groups in Khanh Vinh and Tay Ninh Hoa communes is an activity aimed at implementing Project 6 on preserving and promoting the valuable traditional culture of ethnic minorities in conjunction with tourism development (under the National Target Program for socio-economic development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas in the period 2021-2025) in the province. This demonstrates the local government's concern for preserving traditional cultural values, contributing to improving the spiritual life of people in ethnic minority areas, and spreading the cultural values of these communities. Each member of these clubs and performing arts groups will be a key figure in promoting the local cultural and artistic movement and developing more similar club models in the future. It is noteworthy that the members of the clubs and performing arts groups are the ones who possess and perform traditional folk songs and dances, and skillfully use traditional musical instruments.

The solo performance of the stone xylophone
The solo performance of the stone xylophone "Echoes of Raglai" was presented by members of the Folk Culture Club of Nga Hai village - Son Thanh village (Khanh Vinh commune).

According to Mr. Nguyen Dinh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tay Ninh Hoa commune, the establishment of these clubs aims to maintain folk cultural activities and make an important contribution to the preservation of the cultural identity of ethnic minorities in conjunction with the development of local tourism. The management board and members of the clubs will receive support from the local government to build and implement activities in an orderly and diverse manner. Emphasis will be placed on effectively transmitting traditional cultural values. Ms. Cao Thi Ngoc Thoa, Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Department of Khanh Vinh commune, stated that after their establishment and launch, the clubs and performing arts groups will be responsible for developing cultural programs, organizing rehearsals, and performances. Members of these clubs and performing arts groups will also be key figures in collecting, preserving, transmitting, and introducing the cultural identity of the Raglai ethnic group. This will meet the cultural and spiritual needs of the people in the villages, as well as support activities and events taking place in the commune.

Following the implementation of Project 6, the model of folk culture clubs and traditional performing arts groups has proven effective in preserving and promoting the cultural values of ethnic minority communities in conjunction with tourism. From this, the beauty of the traditional culture of these communities is increasingly disseminated and promoted to all segments of the population and tourists.
