Lang Xa Con residential group, Thanh Thuy ward used to be a "hot spot" of security and order, where thieves and drug addicts often came to operate, causing insecurity for the people for a long time. Since the regular police force was strengthened at the grassroots level and the force participating in protecting security and order at the grassroots level was established, the security and order protection group of Lang Xa Con residential group was consolidated, increased from 1 to 4 members, the situation has changed significantly.

Promoting the role of the "extended arm" of the police force at the grassroots level, the Lang Xa Con residential group's security and order protection team has been staying close to the locality day and night, close to the people, listening to their thoughts and opinions. From there, they have propagated and mobilized people to voluntarily hand over 3 weapons, explosives, support tools, and equipped themselves with 7 fire extinguishers... Each member of the security and order team is also an extremely important information bridge, providing up to 80% of valuable information to the police force. Thanks to that, many cases related to security and order have been detected and handled promptly.

Notably, the achievement of arresting the subject who repeatedly committed thefts of people's property in 2024. Members of the Lang Xa Con Security Protection Team quickly arrived to coordinate with the ward police to protect the scene, check each clue, and provide key information about strangers or unusual points in the area. Thanks to the high sense of responsibility and that initial valuable information, in just a short time, the case was successfully discovered .

According to Hue City Police, solid “shields” similar to the Lang Xa Con residential area security protection team are present day and night throughout the city. Behind the strength of each group is the tireless dedication of dedicated, exemplary individuals.

As the head of the security and order protection team of residential group 8, Huong Tra ward, Mr. Tran Anh Tuan shared: He and the members of the team coordinate with the ward police to strengthen the models of "Fire prevention and fighting inter-family group", "Public fire fighting point" and regularly go to grasp information about the activities of 8 business establishments with security and order conditions in the area.

According to the assessment of Huong Tra Ward Police, Mr. Tran Anh Tuan is also an elder brother and uncle who persistently reformed and educated wrongdoers, helping them reintegrate into the community.

"Extended arm" of the police

On July 1, 2024, the entire Hue City established 1,103 security and order protection teams with 3,413 members, ready to carry out 6 core task groups, becoming a solid support for the government and the people. Immediately after its establishment, under the direct direction of the Party Committee, local authorities and the professional guidance of the commune-level police, along with the investment attention of the Ministry of Public Security and Hue City Police, the force participating in security and order protection at the grassroots level has been focused on being equipped with the necessary means and support tools to serve the work.

The task of grasping the situation is identified as the core and continuous task of the force during its operations. With the advantage of being close to the people and understanding the locality, the members of the security and order protection teams of the wards and communes have truly become the trusted "eyes and ears" of the police. When detecting signs of law violations or conflicts among the people, they promptly appear and report to the commune-level police to resolve them right from the start. From its establishment to August 2025, this force has provided 1,952 valuable sources of information and participated in supporting the resolution of 1,303 cases from the beginning.

The force's achievements are also marked by a series of other impressive numbers such as: Supporting the commune-level police and mass organizations to carry out 18,343 propaganda campaigns, mobilizing people to participate in crime prevention and control; coordinating to support 130 cases related to fire prevention and fighting and 44 cases related to rescue; providing 74 reports on signs of violations by conditional business establishments and 133 other reports related to security and order; coordinating to carry out 24,549 night patrols and detecting 858 cases with signs of violations...

According to statistics from Hue City Police, after the initial phase of operation, the security and order situation in the first 6 months of 2025 has had a turning point. Compared to the same period, the number of criminal cases has decreased by 96 cases, equivalent to 13.04%. The crime situation has been controlled and reduced.

The Hue City Police Department will direct the police force at all levels to continue to do a good job of advising, strengthening management, and providing professional guidance to build an increasingly clean and strong security and order protection force at the grassroots level, meeting the requirements and tasks in the new situation.

Up to now, 38 groups and 210 individuals in the force participating in protecting security and order at the grassroots level have been awarded certificates of merit for their outstanding achievements in the work.
