Summer is a time to relax after a year of studying, and also a great opportunity for children to experience their hobbies. Through gifted classes and sports, many students have had a fun, healthy and rewarding summer.

The atmosphere on the training field is vibrant with activity among the members of the Golden Star Club.

Unlike sports like table tennis, football, and volleyball, basketball is relatively new to children in Thai Nguyen province. With the desire to introduce basketball to young children, the Sao Vang Club was established in 2023. In the summer of 2025, the club attracted nearly 100 children aged 5 to 18 to participate in summer training.

At 5:30 PM, as the afternoon sun began to fade, the courtyard of Doi Can 2 Primary School in Phan Dinh Phung Ward echoed with the shouts of "One, two, one, two..." from the members of the Golden Star Club. The students, dressed in sporty attire, formed a circle, enthusiastically warming up and preparing for an energetic learning session.

As one of the youngest students, six-year-old Pham Ngoc Son from Linh Son ward said: "I started learning basketball at the beginning of the summer. What I like most is when I can shoot the ball into the hoop."

The club was founded out of the passion of young people who love basketball and have been involved with the sport for many years. Thanks to this, the club members understand the psychology of young children and develop lesson plans that are suitable for each age group and the needs of the students.

Younger children will get acquainted with the ball, combining it with physical games to improve fitness and enhance concentration. High school students will practice more advanced movements, developing dexterity, flexibility, and competitive tactics.

Mr. Vu Duy An, Chairman of the Sao Vang Basketball Club, shared: "Practicing basketball not only helps children improve their health and increase their height, but also contributes to developing teamwork, discipline, and concentration. In the future, we hope to have more sports tournaments that include basketball to spread this sport to even more people."

To improve quality and select talented and promising students, the Golden Star Club regularly organizes friendly matches and awards small prizes to encourage diligent and hardworking students. Through the club, many students have participated in provincial-level sports competitions and achieved high results.

Ms. Tran Thi Duong, mother of Vu Duy An, said: "I enrolled both my children in basketball classes at the Sao Vang Club. Initially, it was just a trial, but they both really enjoyed it. After a while, I noticed they became more active, had better concentration, and their health improved significantly. I think these extracurricular and sports classes during the summer are very necessary."

Summer afternoons no longer pass quietly but are filled with the sound of bouncing balls and the laughter of children. Basketball, with its unique appeal, is bringing children a dynamic, bonding, and growing summer. In this positive atmosphere, many classrooms across the province are overflowing with joy…

While not as lively as a basketball game, the weekend art class taught by teacher Ly Thi Phuong Thao in Bac Kan ward attracts many children with the mystery of the colors. This is one of more than 10 talent classes opened during the summer in the central northern area of ​​the province.

Art class - a place where young children can unleash their creativity and nurture their love of painting.

Without a blackboard or chalk, just with a pencil, a box of crayons, and a sheet of white paper, the children can draw their dreams and simple yet heartfelt stories. Each lesson not only helps to hone their dexterity and keen eye but also nurtures the pure and innocent souls of childhood.

In a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, 27 children, aged 6 to 13, are diligently painting, creating with colors from their own unique perspectives. Nine-year-old Dam Minh Anh from Duc Xuan ward excitedly says while meticulously coloring a still-life painting: "This is my second year attending art classes in the summer. I enjoy coloring and drawing pictures about my dreams, nature, and landscapes."

In the class, the children are introduced to basic painting techniques such as sketching, drawing lines, and mixing colors. And notably, in some lessons, the "painting tools" are familiar materials like carrot scraps, bitter gourds, or sweet potato slices. Using vegetables to create prints and shapes not only brings excitement but also sparks unique creativity in the children.

From their clumsy brushstrokes, the children have created a vibrant world of colors. It could be a vast ocean, a small house by a stream, or their dream of becoming an artist… Learning to draw in the summer helps children relax after a year of studying and sows the seeds of a love for art in their young hearts.

During the summer, instead of letting time pass by with electronic devices or uncontrolled activities, many parents have chosen extracurricular classes and sports for their children. Summer 2025 is drawing to a close, but the memorable experiences from these engaging classes will remain, becoming valuable assets in each child's journey to adulthood.
