Homes filled with love and affection.

(LĐ online) - On June 19th, 15 ethnic minority households in Dam Rong district facing housing difficulties were delighted to receive a gift from the Southern Power Corporation. These were 15 small, decent homes, built with funding from the power sector, matching funds from the families, and contributions from the local community.

A SAFE LITTLE HOME FOR THE FUTURE

Ms. Cil K'Thảo, a resident of Liêng Trang 1 village, Đạ Tông commune, Đam Rông district, happily admired her newly completed small house while cradling her 5-month-old youngest son. In just a few days, she, her husband, and their three younger siblings will be able to move into their spacious new home. The 28-year-old mother shared: “My family lived in an old wooden house passed down from my parents, which was dilapidated, flooded during rainy weather, damp, and unsanitary. Fortunately, the Electricity Corporation sponsored 60 million VND, and my family added another 15 million VND to buy building materials. My husband and his siblings and relatives in the village built the house themselves, and after more than a month of construction, it is now complete. Dam Rong Electricity Company has announced that they will come tomorrow to install a free electricity system for our family. So, in just a few days, my husband, children, and I will be able to move into our new, spacious, clean, and beautiful home. My family is very grateful to the electricity sector, the local government, and the villagers for supporting our family in having a safe, clean, and beautiful home.”

Ms. Cil K'Thảo's joy is also the joy of many residents of Da Tong. Mr. Da Cat Ha Bieng, from Da Nhinh 1 village, Da Tong commune, has a family with five children, including a disabled child, making their economic situation extremely difficult. Their old, dilapidated wooden house was cramped, causing his children to suffer from leaks during the rainy season in Dam Rong. Therefore, when they received financial support from the Southern Power Corporation to build a new house, he and his family were overjoyed. He said that his family had saved for several years, but with so many children, the amount saved was not much. Receiving 60 million VND, he contributed an additional 20 million VND to build a more spacious, clean, and comfortable house for his children to live in safely.

Mr. Hoang Manh Huynh, Secretary of the Party Committee of Da Tong commune, said that the commune has recently completed the construction of a new rural commune, and the income of residents has gradually improved. However, housing for the people still faces some difficulties. “In 2025, implementing the policy of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, Da Tong commune was allocated funds to eliminate 53 temporary houses, each costing 60 million VND. With the support of the Southern Power Corporation, which provided an additional 10 houses, the entire commune has basically eliminated all temporary and dilapidated houses, fulfilling the housing criterion in the set of criteria for building a new rural commune.”

A HEARTWARMING SONG ABOUT SOLIDARITY

It's not just about providing financial support for people to build houses; these shelters also sing a song about sharing, neighborly spirit, and mutual support among residents.

Mr. Pang Ting Ha Duc, from Da Nhinh 1 village, Da Tong 1 commune, is helping Mr. Da Cat Ha Bieng's family lay floor tiles. Both Mr. Ha Duc and Mr. Ha Bieng received support from the electricity sector to build new houses. Instead of hiring outside workers, the houses were built by the villagers themselves. They took turns building each house, installing each door, and helping each other complete the work. Mr. Ha Duc said: "Today we're laying floor tiles for Mr. Bieng's house, tomorrow it will be my turn, and so on. Doing it ourselves saves money and is faster, so everyone has a new house." The hands of the villagers have helped each house come to fruition quickly.

“The labor costs were also very high, a burden for the families. Therefore, the commune encouraged families to help each other, exchanging labor to build houses. The Military Command organized site clearing, and residents in the commune also contributed over 20 million VND to provide additional support to the families,” Mr. Hoang Manh Huynh informed. Mr. Huynh proudly stated that the solidarity of the Da Tong residents helped the construction of 63 new houses proceed quickly and economically, leaving a beautiful mark on community spirit.

Mr. Tran Nhat Duy, Chairman of the Trade Union of Lam Dong Power Company, said that the power sector has always been committed to the development of the locality. Besides ensuring electricity supply for production and daily life, the power sector also aims to support residents in improving their living standards, including jointly eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses. In 2025, the Southern Power Corporation will donate 900 million VND through the Vietnam Fatherland Front to be distributed directly to people in Da Tong, Da Long, and Lieng Sronh communes of Dam Rong district. The power sector will continue to accompany and be closely connected with the people in all localities throughout the province with the goal of building a sustainable community.
