The joy of clean water in the village.

In previous years, ethnic minority communities in the mountainous communes of northern Thai Nguyen province still lacked access to clean water, especially during the dry season. Bringing clean water to these villages therefore became a great aspiration for the people and a key objective in socio-economic development programs for ethnic minority and mountainous regions.

In her newly built house, still smelling of fresh paint, Ms. Sung Thi Mai, a Mong ethnic woman from Ta Han village, Nam Cuong commune, happily shared: "Thanks to the Party and the State's support, by the end of 2025, my family will have a solid house. Furthermore, my family also received a water tank and a water pipe to bring water from the stream behind our house for daily life and production. From now on, we won't have to carry water from the stream in cans or buckets anymore, so my family is very happy."

In recent years, thanks to resources from national target programs and the attention of all levels of government, many centralized domestic water supply projects have been invested in and built in mountainous communes.

Water pipelines, reservoirs, and water treatment plants have been brought directly to the villages, reaching every household. Clean water is no longer a distant dream but is now a reality in the daily lives of ethnic minority communities.

Mr. Duong Duc Huan, from Khuoi Slien village, Thuong Minh commune, said: "The village's clean water project was invested in by the State in 2023. Since having clean water, households in the village have been using it sparingly and consciously protecting the water pipes and storage tanks. They take turns checking and promptly fixing any problems, so the water still flows regularly every day."

With access to clean and hygienic water, many households no longer need to use well water or carry water, which is very convenient. This has contributed to improving the quality of life for the people here.

According to Mr. Ma Van Tuan, Chairman of the People's Committee of Cao Minh commune: From national target program funds from 2020 to the present, the commune has proactively reviewed the situation in the villages to invest in building water tanks and installing clean, hygienic water pipes from streams to serve the people. To date, over 90% of households in the commune have access to clean, hygienic water. The supply of clean water to homes has contributed to creating conditions for people to develop production and increase their income. It has also enabled them to be more proactive in livestock farming, crop cultivation, and agricultural product processing, gradually improving family economies and raising the quality of life.

It is noteworthy that, along with infrastructure investment, localities also focus on raising public awareness about the use and protection of water resources.

Self-governing groups have been established to operate and maintain the facilities, ensuring the system's sustainable and long-term operation.

The people are not only beneficiaries but also directly involved in managing and preserving the community's shared water resources.

The arrival of clean water in the villages has brought joy and met the needs of ethnic minority communities, leading to a more civilized and sustainable life. This is not only a testament to the Party and State's concern and investment, but also a crucial foundation for the people to live and work with peace of mind, contributing to the development of their villages and communities.
