A meaningful playground for high school students.
The Green Leaf Social Work Team was founded in February 2022 by Nguyen Khanh Hoa , a student at Pacific University, while she was still in 12th grade. Hoa said: “Before forming the team, my friends and I had already carried out some volunteer activities. However, there aren't many playgrounds specifically for high school students in the province. Therefore, I wanted to create a place where young people can participate in activities while also honing their skills and developing themselves through practical experiences.”

The team's slogan is "Leaves Reaching High - Green Youth," conveying the green color of enthusiasm, aspiration for contribution, and the beautiful spirit of youth. From an initial 30 members, the team has grown to approximately 50 members, along with many collaborators participating in various programs and projects; primarily students from high schools in the Nha Trang area such as Ly Tu Trong, Nguyen Van Troi, Pham Van Dong, and Le Quy Don Specialized High School - South Nha Trang. To give members the opportunity to hone their organizational and teamwork skills, the role of team leader is rotated annually. Currently, the team is led by Phan Bao Truong Phu (a student from Ly Tu Trong High School). Members are assigned to specialized departments responsible for content, visuals, personnel, logistics, expertise, and finance/external relations to ensure efficient operation.
In the early days, to fund their activities, the team members collected scrap paper, solicited donations of used clothing, sorted them, and sold them to raise funds. They then used the accumulated capital to import various types of Tay Ninh rice paper to sell. Besides selling directly to friends and acquaintances, they also posted advertisements on the team's fan page and social media. Team members also handmade cakes, bubble tea, bracelets, etc., to sell and fund the program. The team also received support from several benefactors and parents to maintain their activities.
Contributing the energy of youth to the community.
The team operates around four goals: charity, education, environment, and youth activities. Each year, the team implements one to two projects for each goal. Because all members are still students, activities are usually organized on weekends and during the summer. Recently, following the team members, we visited Ms. Nguyen Thi Duc's charity class in Bac Nha Trang ward to participate in the "Giving Sunshine to Children" program. There, the team organized many games, cultural activities, parties, and gave gifts to the children. The atmosphere in the classroom became lively and joyful with the children's laughter and excitement. This class is also where the team has maintained its "Green Kindergarten Class" project for the past three years. Every summer, volunteers participate in teaching the children six sessions a week, helping them supplement their knowledge and develop skills. Ms. Duc shared: “The team has been with the class for many years. They not only support teaching and reinforce knowledge but also clean up, organize fun activities, and give gifts, bringing more joy to the children.”

In addition, the team carries out environmental protection activities such as cleaning and making recycled products. Simultaneously, they organize many youth activities for members such as sports competitions, handicraft workshops, skills classes, fundraising clothing sales, and outdoor excursions… to strengthen bonds, help young people develop skills, and foster a spirit of initiative and creativity. The team focuses most on charitable activities; each year they make four trips to areas such as Khánh Sơn, Khánh Vĩnh, Ninh Hòa, Cam Lâm, Diên Khánh, Vạn Ninh… to give gifts and support children and people in difficult circumstances. Furthermore, the team also participates in summer retreats for children, organizes cooking and distributes free meals to the people. Through each activity, young people not only contribute to the community but also have the opportunity to develop themselves. Pham Vy Ai Kha, a member of the team, shared: “After nearly a year of participation, I have learned many useful things, especially teamwork, communication, interpersonal skills, and activity organization. Joining the team has also given me more opportunities to experience and express myself in many different fields. I have also introduced more friends to join.”
With many meaningful activities, the team is not only a place for students to train and grow, but also to spread love to the community.
