- After the Lunar New Year, many festivals take place in the communes of the province. Along with the solemn ceremonies and the vibrant festivities, many communes have proactively arranged areas to display and introduce OCOP (One Commune One Product) products and characteristic agricultural products, adding a highlight to the festival space.
In the early days of spring, at many festival venues, the display areas for OCOP products and characteristic agricultural products are neatly arranged, with clear signage, attracting many locals and tourists to visit and shop. Many localities have identified this as an important activity in their festival programs, both to showcase agricultural potential and to create opportunities for cooperatives and producers to expand their markets.
At the Lồng Tồng festival in Tân Văn commune, in addition to rituals praying for a good harvest and folk games, the organizers dedicated a separate area to display agricultural products and OCOP (One Commune One Product) products from the commune. The stalls were conveniently arranged for locals and tourists to visit, and the products were attractively packaged. Visitors attending the festival not only participated in the ceremonies but also spent time visiting the stalls, learning about the production process, and purchasing products as souvenirs.

Mr. Hoang Kim Huu, Vice Chairman of the Tan Van Commune People's Committee, said: "The commune has characteristic agricultural products such as banana root cakes and honey... This year's festival, the commune encouraged cooperatives and business households to participate in displaying and introducing their products. We believe that the festival is not only a cultural activity but also an opportunity to promote local products. Through the festival, people inside and outside the commune will learn more about the products, helping to spread the brand to a wider range of consumers and creating a foundation for expanding a sustainable market."
A similar atmosphere prevailed at the traditional festival in Ban Chu village, Hoa Tham commune. Mr. Ly Van Thang, Vice Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, stated: Before the Lunar New Year, the commune had planned to direct the villages to prepare characteristic agricultural products to display at the festival in order to promote local products. On the 5th day of the first lunar month, at the Ban Chu traditional festival, the commune had 14 stalls from 14 villages displaying products such as chicken eggs, white horse bone extract, upland rice, etc. Through the festival, many products attracted customer interest and were purchased on the spot.
Along with the two festivals mentioned above, at several other festivals held this year, such as the Long Tong Festival (Binh Gia commune), the Tan Thanh Pagoda Festival (Hoang Van Thu commune), and the Met Market Festival (Huu Lung commune), communes and businesses producing and selling local specialties in the province also set up stalls to display, introduce, and sell specialty products and OCOP products in the festival areas. Each stall displayed 20 to 40 different products such as cakes, vegetables, fruits, etc. In particular, the festivals also featured impressive activities such as pig roasting competitions and cake-making contests, allowing visitors to experience the production process firsthand and sample the products right at the festival.
At the same time, the communes focused on arranging concentrated exhibition areas with signage and management by the organizing committee to ensure orderly exhibitions and create a good impression on visitors.
The number of visitors to post-Tet festivals in the province is very large every year. This represents a potential local market for consuming agricultural products and OCOP (One Commune One Product) products. Ms. Ly Phuong Hien, Director of Na Lang Agricultural and Forestry Cooperative in Binh Gia commune, said: "This year, the cooperative participated in displaying about 20 products at the festival in the commune, such as black jelly, cinnamon scented sachets, various types of tea... In just one day, almost all of our products were sold out. More importantly, many people learned about our products and asked for our phone number to place orders later."
Besides generating direct revenue, participating in festivals also helps businesses learn how to display and introduce their products, and understand consumer preferences. Based on visitor feedback, businesses can adjust their designs and packaging to better suit market demands.
Each booth at the festival serves as a "window" showcasing the economic potential of rural areas to visitors from near and far. As the festival season continues, the attention and proactive efforts of local authorities in organizing displays and promoting OCOP products and agricultural produce will contribute to increasing people's income and spreading the image of the homeland in the early days of spring.
