Artist Huu Do is a familiar face to theater and television audiences nationwide. He has retired from acting in films for over 10 years. A few years ago, his health was still good, and he was present at the anniversaries of the Vietnam National Drama Theater, where he worked for many years.
Born in Hanoi in 1934, he was active in amateur theater troupes from his school days. Thanks to his bright face and tall stature, Huu Do was a frequent participant in school and local movements.
In 1954, while attending Nguyen Trai High School, he was chosen to play the role of Ca Khiet in the play "The Tea Cabinet ," a collaborative performance by students from major schools in Hanoi at the Hanoi Grand Theatre. He also performed in several semi-professional theater troupes in Hanoi, such as Song Hong Theater, Autumn, and Dong Phuong.
In 1960, he joined the Hanoi Drama Troupe, participating in many plays such as " The Guillotine," "The Guerrillas," and "Lam Son Uprising ." After a while, he worked at the General Department of Railways' Art Troupe, holding the position of troupe leader. Around the 1970s, he joined the Central Drama Troupe, now the Vietnam National Drama Theatre.

One of his last films was "Nếp nhà" (Family Traditions ), shot in 2008. After that, he declined many offers due to declining health. Additionally, he once stated that he no longer fit the filmmaking style of some younger directors.
With perseverance and dedication to his craft, artist Huu Do has received the greatest happiness: the love of his audience and the respect of his colleagues.
