People's Artist, musician Thanh Hai - a talented artist of the Cai Luong stage - was diagnosed with lung cancer. After a period of intensive treatment at Nguyen Trai Hospital (HCMC), he did not survive. People's Artist Thanh Hai passed away at the age of 68.
People's Artist and musician Thanh Hai has devoted his whole life to the Cai Luong stage, from the Ho Chi Minh City Performing Arts Troupe, Troupe 284, Tran Huu Trang Theater, to the Golden Stage and the Cai Luong Academy.

He can play many traditional musical instruments, especially he is proficient in the zither and the zither, and has made many improvements in the music of Cai Luong. He not only created melodies to support the performance, but also contributed to shaping the musical style of many famous Cai Luong plays: Doi Co Luu, To Anh Nguyet, Nguoi ven do, La du rieng, Mau dyed san chua...
With his tireless contributions, he was awarded the title of People's Artist - a worthy title for someone who lives his life to the fullest with his profession and lives beautifully with his colleagues.
Today, the Cai Luong stage bids farewell to a backstage artist, a silent yet steadfast heart. His musical notes still resonate in the hearts of the audience.
His funeral was held at the Artist Pagoda (Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City), the resting place of many generations of talented cai luong artists.
