People's Artist and musician Thanh Hai, a talented artist of the Cai Luong (Vietnamese traditional opera) stage, was diagnosed with lung cancer. After a period of intensive treatment at Nguyen Trai Hospital (Ho Chi Minh City), he unfortunately passed away. People's Artist Thanh Hai died at the age of 68.
People's Artist and musician Thanh Hai dedicated his entire life to Cai Luong (Vietnamese traditional opera), from the Ho Chi Minh City Performing Arts Troupe, the 284th Troupe, the Tran Huu Trang Theater, to the Golden Stage and the Cai Luong Academy.

He played many traditional Vietnamese musical instruments, especially mastering the kìm and tranh zithers, and made many innovations in cải lương (Vietnamese traditional opera) music . He not only created melodies that supported performances but also contributed to shaping the musical style of many famous cải lương plays: Đời cô Lựu, Tô Ánh Nguyệt, Người ven đô, Lá sầu riêng, Máu nhuộm sân chùa…
For his tireless dedication, he was awarded the title of People's Artist - a well-deserved honor for someone who lived fully for his profession and maintained a noble relationship with his colleagues.
Today, the Cai Luong stage bids farewell to a behind-the-scenes artist, a quiet yet enduring heart. His music will forever resonate in the hearts of the audience.
His funeral was held at the Artists' Pagoda (Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City), the resting place of many generations of talented Cai Luong (Vietnamese traditional opera) artists.
