Speaking to VietNamNet , Meritorious Artist Phi Dieu said she was hospitalized on December 16th. The artist had symptoms of high fever, tremors, and low blood pressure, so her family quickly took her to the emergency room.

At the hospital, doctors diagnosed Phi Dieu with sepsis. She was prescribed antibiotics along with intravenous fluids.

After two days of treatment at Thong Nhat Hospital, she was able to eat and talk, but her body was still weak.

"This is the first time I've been hospitalized in the emergency room at the age of 93. Initially, I thought it was just a common cold, but the illness worsened, so I had to go to the hospital. After this illness, I have to pay more attention to my health and not be complacent," Phi Dieu said.

Because her son, the artist Hong Quan, is working far away, the family asked their nephew to look after Phi Dieu.

Meritorious Artist Phi Điểu had a filming schedule for a new project on December 20th. However, as the filming date approached, the crew was unable to contact her, causing concern.

"I feel guilty for affecting the film crew. However, the younger actors and actresses are very understanding and encourage me to focus on resting," Phi Dieu recounted. The artist hopes to be discharged from the hospital soon to recuperate at home and return to the film set.

Artist Phi Dieu, whose real name is Nguyen Thi Phi Phi, was born in 1933. Her career began as a broadcaster with a Southern accent at the Voice of Vietnam Radio , and later at the Voice of the People of Ho Chi Minh City Radio.

In 2000, at the age of 68, Meritorious Artist Phi Dieu officially began her acting career with the film "White Blouse ". She was beloved by audiences for her portrayals of kind, hardworking grandmothers and mothers on screen in films such as "Thuy Khuc", "Basket of Love", and "Beside the Red Leaves ". Audiences often called her "the nation's grandmother" or "the kindest mother on Vietnamese screen". In 1997, Phi Dieu was awarded the title of Meritorious Artist.

She has two children with her husband, the late musician Phan Nhân (author of the famous songs "Little Frog," "Hanoi, Faith and Hope ," etc.).

At her advanced age, Phi Dieu remains actively involved in film projects, sitcoms, music videos, etc. She also accepts roles from directors and film students without prioritizing payment.
