Kindness needs no name, nor does it necessarily need to be associated with any organization or individual. It's from the motorbike taxi driver who gives free rides to poor students so they can get to their exam sites on time. It's from families willingly giving up a part of their cramped house to provide free accommodation. It's from the people standing at the school gate hoping to help the students and their families in some way.
Recently, social media has been abuzz with news that in the mountainous border region of Thanh Hoa province, Quan Son Ethnic Boarding Secondary School has mobilized free meals, drinks, and accommodation to support high school students taking the 2026 high school graduation exam.
Then there were images of elderly women carrying buckets of cool water, standing in front of exam centers in Hac Thanh ward, waiting for those in need. Everything happened naturally, when they felt they needed to do it. Sincerity and kindness are not pretentious or embellished. They may be quiet and simple, but they are far from ordinary. During the exam days in Thanh Hoa, the weather was unpredictable, with rain and sunshine alternating. Many parents silently waited for their children outside the exam centers, their faces filled with worry and fatigue. But these acts of kindness and sincerity, lingering at the exam gates, at bus stops, and in the student housing areas, warmed people's hearts.
How meaningful it is that, just one day before the 2026 high school graduation exam, General Secretary and President To Lam met with 100 exemplary individuals featured in the "Acts of Kindness" program broadcast on VTV. The General Secretary and President stated that kind people not only show compassion but also live responsibly; they not only help others but also respect the law, justice, and human dignity; they not only do good when things are favorable but also maintain their integrity in times of difficulty, challenges, and temptation.
Admittedly, life still has its share of bad and evil, and we cannot eradicate it completely. But in this life, there is still much kindness and sincerity. Kindness not only helps resolve immediate situations but also serves as a remedy to "use beauty to overcome ugliness," using goodness to transform evil. We need to multiply the flowers of good deeds, cherish and spread humane actions for the community during exam season, and from anywhere, in any circumstance. Family, school, and community are the best environments to nurture the seeds of goodness.
