Elevating the quality of OCOP products.
In mid-January 2026, the People's Committee of Lam Dong province submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment requesting the evaluation and classification of 8 OCOP products at the national level. The proposed products mainly belong to the coffee, tea, and refined pharmaceutical groups of 3 enterprises in the province.
These are all exemplary, high-quality products that meet the criteria for production scale, added value, and market potential. This move demonstrates a strong shift in Lam Dong 's OCOP program from extensive development to quality improvement, aiming for products with high competitiveness in the market.

According to the Lam Dong Department of Agriculture and Environment, the province currently has 926 OCOP products, of which 75 products have achieved 4 stars and 844 products have achieved 3 stars. The number of products has increased steadily over the years, mainly focusing on food, processed agricultural products, beverages, herbal products, and rural tourism services.
Many OCOP products from Lam Dong province are now available in supermarkets, specialty stores, and trade fairs both within and outside the province. Some products are gradually accessing export markets, opening up opportunities to increase value and build local brands in the international market.

To achieve this result, Lam Dong province has implemented many OCOP (One Commune One Product) programs in conjunction with the restructuring of the agricultural sector. Based on the vast territory of Lam Dong after reorganization (including the former Lam Dong, Binh Thuan, and Dak Nong regions), the program is organized to leverage the advantages of each region and its distinctive products.
The OCOP program goes beyond simply recognizing achievements; it also promotes a shift in mindset from agricultural production to agricultural economics. Businesses are increasingly focusing on quality, building value chains, improving designs and packaging, and applying traceability and advanced production standards. As a result, the value of products has significantly increased compared to before.

Localities have effectively utilized their existing potential to develop distinctive products. Products such as coffee, macadamia nuts, cocoa, dragon fruit, artichokes, temperate fruits and vegetables, and processed seafood are gradually establishing their position in the market.
Simultaneously, the province focuses on developing specialized raw material areas, promoting rural industries, preserving traditional craft villages, and linking the OCOP program with sustainable new rural development.

The effectiveness of the program is clearly demonstrated by the average annual increase of 15-20% in income for OCOP participants and the creation of more jobs for rural workers.
The quality, brand, and competitiveness of products are constantly improving, contributing to the modernization of the rural economy.
Leveraging advantages, aiming for sustainability.
Following the administrative reorganization, Lam Dong is the province with the largest land area in the country. With diverse climate and soil conditions and a favorable geographical location, the province has many advantages in developing high-tech agriculture, ecological agriculture, and organic agriculture linked to agro-tourism. This is a crucial foundation for the continued development of the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program in the new phase.

In the coming period, Lam Dong province has identified seven key orientations and solutions to elevate the OCOP program. Among them, brand building and market development are considered crucial tasks.
The province will step up trade promotion, linking OCOP products with tourism, developing distribution systems and OCOP sales points, and creating conditions for products to reach consumers more easily.

Besides expanding markets, the province focuses on improving product quality. Businesses will be supported in applying quality standards, advanced production processes, and will prioritize evaluation and classification before product certification.
The development of OCOP (One Commune One Product) is oriented towards value chains, exploiting the unique advantages of each locality, avoiding duplication and fragmentation.

In addition, the province is strengthening its role in state management and mobilizing social resources to diversify investment capital for the program. Training and skill development in management, marketing, and digital transformation for stakeholders are also being emphasized to enhance competitiveness in the context of integration.
Lam Dong province will focus on developing OCOP products that have potential, competitive advantages, and distinctive characteristics. The province encourages businesses and cooperatives to invest in research, technological innovation, and product quality improvement.

According to the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Le Trong Yen, with the foundation already built and the space for development expanding, Lam Dong's OCOP program is facing new opportunities for breakthroughs.
The orientation of "quality - innovation - sustainability" not only helps to enhance the value of products but also contributes to promoting the construction of new rural areas, bringing rural economies towards modernization and integration.
