Mr. Chau Pi, whose real name is Nguyen Thanh Tai (57 years old, residing in Ta Lot hamlet, Nui Cam commune, An Giang province), has nearly 30 years of experience in bull racing. This profession has been passed down from his father to him and now to his son.

Winning major awards over the years required a great deal of effort from him, from selecting the bulls to caring for them and training them for competitions. He buys the bulls from Cambodia at prices ranging from tens of millions to over 100 million dong.

According to Mr. Chau Pi's experience, racing bulls must be castrated male bulls, neither too fat nor too thin, with small ears, a non-sagging chest, and a swirl of hair on their heads to prove they are intelligent and obedient to their owner. The two bulls may not be of equal build, but their legs must be uniform.

Approximately two months before the race, the bulls require meticulous care and training. In addition to their main food of young grass, the bulls are also nourished with rice porridge, bran, coconut water mixed with chicken eggs, and fresh milk.

"Taking care of racing bulls is like taking care of a newborn baby. The bull jockey not only has to take meticulous care of them but also be close to them during training. This allows the jockey and the bull to understand each other, creating a sense of security when they step onto the racetrack," Mr. Chau Pi shared.
