Nearly two months after the Hanoi People's Court sentenced 50 defendants in the case involving FLC Group Joint Stock Company (FLC Group), 25 of them have filed appeals, requesting the Hanoi High People's Court to hear the case in the appellate process.

In their appeals, the majority of defendants requested leniency, suspended sentences, and reductions in their civil liability in the case.

Specifically, defendant Trinh Van Quyet (born in 1975, former Chairman of the Board of Directors of FLC Group, Chairman of Tre Viet Aviation Joint Stock Company) appealed for a reduction in the sentence and the amount of civil liability applied to him in the case.

Meanwhile, the defendant Quyết's two sisters, Trịnh Thị Minh Huế and Trịnh Thị Thúy Nga, both appealed for a reduction in criminal and civil liability, and did not request that the defendant compensate for the damages.

At the first-instance trial announced on the afternoon of August 5th, the Hanoi People's Court sentenced defendant Trinh Van Quyet to 18 years in prison for "Fraudulent appropriation of property" and 3 years in prison for "Manipulating the stock market," resulting in a combined sentence of 21 years in prison.

Convicted of the same two charges, Trinh Thi Minh Hue was sentenced to 14 years in prison, and Trinh Thi Thuy Nga to 8 years in prison.

In this case, defendant Le Van Tuan (born in 1978, auditor at CPA Company) appealed the entire verdict, disagreeing with the content and the sentence imposed on him by the first-instance court. Defendant Hoang Thi Thu Ha (born in 1980, accountant at FLC Land Company) appealed against the criminal liability and the sentence imposed on her by the first-instance court.

Defendant Tran The Anh (born in 1978, Deputy General Director of FLC Group, former Deputy General Director of Faros Company) appealed for a reduction in criminal liability, a lighter sentence, and for rehabilitation in his local area. Defendant Do Nhu Tuan (born in 1969, former General Director of FLC Faros Construction Joint Stock Company - Faros Company) appealed for a lighter sentence and appealed the entire verdict.

Nine defendants requested leniency, including: Tran Thi Hanh, Nguyen Thi Thanh Phuong, Do Quang Lam, Trinh Van Dai, Nguyen Van Thanh, Nguyen Ngoc Tinh, Huong Tran Kieu Dung, Nguyen Thi Hong Dung, and Tram Tuan Vu.

The remaining nine defendants requested leniency and suspended sentences, including: Tran Thi Lan, Nguyen Thi Thu Thom, Nguyen Quynh Anh, Bui Ngoc Tu, Chu Tien Vuong, Nguyen Van Manh, Dam Mai Huong, Le Cong Dien, and Quach Thi Xuan Thu.
