Mr. Trinh Van Quyet appeals

Nearly two months after the Hanoi People's Court sentenced 50 defendants in the case at FLC Group Joint Stock Company (FLC Group), 25 of these defendants have filed appeals, requesting the High People's Court in Hanoi to review the case according to the appellate procedure.

In the appeals, most defendants asked for a reduction in sentence, a suspended sentence, and a reduction in civil liability in the case.

Specifically, defendant Trinh Van Quyet (born in 1975, former Chairman of the Board of Directors of FLC Group, Chairman of Tre Viet Aviation Joint Stock Company) appealed for a reduction in the penalty and civil liability applied to the defendant in the case.

Meanwhile, the two younger sisters of defendant Quyet, Trinh Thi Minh Hue and Trinh Thi Thuy Nga, both appealed for a reduction in criminal liability and civil liability, and did not request the defendant to remedy the consequences.

At the first instance trial announced on the afternoon of August 5, the Hanoi People's Court sentenced defendant Trinh Van Quyet to 18 years in prison for "Fraudulent appropriation of property", 3 years in prison for "Stock market manipulation", the total sentence for defendant Quyet is 21 years in prison.

Convicted of the same two crimes, Trinh Thi Minh Hue was sentenced to 14 years in prison, Trinh Thi Thuy Nga to 8 years in prison.

In this case, defendant Le Van Tuan (born in 1978, Auditor of CPA Company) appealed the entire verdict, disagreeing with the content and sentence that the first instance verdict had imposed on the defendant. Defendant Hoang Thi Thu Ha (born in 1980, accountant of FLC Land Company) appealed against the criminal responsibility and the sentence that the first instance court had imposed on the defendant.

Defendant Tran The Anh (born in 1978, Deputy General Director of FLC Group, former Deputy General Director of Faros Company) appealed for a reduction of criminal liability, a reduction of sentence and for local rehabilitation. Defendant Do Nhu Tuan (born in 1969, former General Director of FLC Faros Construction Joint Stock Company - Faros Company) appealed for a reduction of sentence and appealed the entire verdict.

Nine defendants asked for reduced sentences, including: Tran Thi Hanh, Nguyen Thi Thanh Phuong, Do Quang Lam, Trinh Van Dai, Nguyen Van Thanh, Nguyen Ngoc Tinh, Huong Tran Kieu Dung, Nguyen Thi Hong Dung, Tram Tuan Vu.

The remaining 9 defendants asked for a reduced sentence and a suspended sentence, including: Tran Thi Lan, Nguyen Thi Thu Thom, Nguyen Quynh Anh, Bui Ngoc Tu, Chu Tien Vuong, Nguyen Van Manh, Dam Mai Huong, Le Cong Dien, and Quach Thi Xuan Thu.

In this case, some victims also filed an appeal requesting to re-determine the amount of compensation and review some contents of the first instance judgment.
