According to local legend, over 400 years ago, the first ruler of the Nguyen Dynasty, Nguyen Hoang (also known as Lord Tien), was pursued in a naval battle at Tam Giang Lagoon. In a moment of crisis, his oar broke, and fisherwoman Tran Thi To donated her net to mend the oar, helping the ruler escape. Therefore, after her death, Lord Nguyen ordered the construction of a temple in her honor. Today, the temple dedicated to Mrs. To still stands in Bac Vong village. The people worship and revere her as a protective deity on the waterways.

Several decades later, also at Tam Giang Lagoon, according to the Dai Nam Thuc Luc Tien Bien , on the way back after defeating the Trinh army, Lord Nguyen Phuc Lan died on his royal boat in 1648.
Tam Giang is not just a body of water for fishermen. It also lies on the route taken by the Nguyen lords.

Tam Giang Lagoon covers an area of approximately 52 km² , and is the northern part of the Tam Giang - Cau Hai lagoon system, the largest in Southeast Asia. It is a brackish water area where the river meets the sea. The narrow estuary, with its many whirlpools and strong winds and waves, means that boats must always be cautious when navigating it. This fear has been recorded in folklore through the following folk song:
"I love you, and I want to come in too."
"Afraid of the Hồ family's wilderness, afraid of destroying the Tam Giang river."

Vietnam encourages US businesses to expand investment in high technology. On the morning of June 26th, at the Government Headquarters, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung received Mr. Jeff Place, Supply Chain Director of Coherent Group (USA). During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam encourages US businesses to expand investment, especially in high-tech, innovation, and semiconductor industries. Folklore recounts that in the early 18th century, the Imperial Counselor Nguyen Khoa Dang used cannons to fire at the large waves on the lagoon. Immediately after firing, a red streak spread out, and everyone believed the fierce waves had been subdued. However, more reliable documents suggest that he ordered the lagoon's entrance widened and additional canals dug to reduce the water pressure. As a result, ships and boats could pass through more easily.
Tam Giang Lagoon later became famous for its bamboo traps (a system of traps made of bamboo and nets to lure shrimp and fish into storage compartments). People built "stilt houses" (temporary huts of about 5-15 m² made of bamboo, wood, or cement) right next to the bamboo trap system to guard and harvest. Sao Hamlet (formerly Dien Hai commune) can be considered the last stilt house hamlet on Tam Giang Lagoon, and it has also been relocated to the shore for resettlement. Tam Giang Lagoon has now become a unique experience that always attracts many tourists .
