Speaking at the event, Central Committee member and Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Lam Thi Phuong Thanh affirmed that, over 60 years of construction and development, the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum has continuously grown stronger, becoming a leading center for research, collection, preservation, exhibition and promotion of fine arts heritage in the country.
According to Minister Lam Thi Phuong Thanh, as an important part of Vietnamese culture, fine arts have always been closely intertwined with social life and the destiny of the nation. Through traditional architecture, sculpture, and decoration, as well as paintings and graphic art, fine arts have made and continue to make significant contributions to the development of culture, helping to cultivate the values of truth, goodness, and beauty, build character, create national vitality and identity, and enhance national soft power.
Building upon the nation's tradition of valuing culture, the Party and State have always given special attention to the cultural sector. Strategic resolutions of the Central Committee throughout various periods, and more recently the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress, Resolution No. 80-NQ/TW of the Politburo , and Resolution No. 28 of the National Assembly on the development of Vietnamese culture, have opened up new opportunities for the development of culture and art. Building an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity in the new era is a crucial task for the entire political system and society. In this process, the team of cultural workers, artists, and painters plays a core role. Generations of leaders, artists, and the entire staff of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum have played a vital role in preserving and promoting the nation's fine cultural values.
Acknowledging and appreciating the silent and dedicated contributions of generations of leaders, officials, and employees of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, Minister Lam Thi Phuong Thanh suggested that in the coming time, the Museum should continue to promote the collection of new, valuable works with a contemporary feel, enriching its collection. The Minister also emphasized the need to strengthen the application of technology, innovation, and digital transformation in professional work, especially in the display and promotion of the value of fine art works; build a database, digitize artifacts, and create a smart, friendly, and accessible museum, especially for young people. Along with that, the Museum needs to expand international cooperation; coordinate the organization of exhibitions and art exchanges to further promote Vietnamese fine art to international friends; and learn from and absorb valuable experiences from museums around the world for development.

According to Dr. Nguyen Anh Minh, Director of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, over 60 years of development and growth, the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum has always been deeply aware of its responsibility in preserving, conserving, and promoting the values of national fine arts; constantly innovating and improving the quality of professional activities, contributing to spreading Vietnamese cultural values to a wide audience domestically and internationally.
The museum currently manages and preserves nearly 21,000 artifacts and works of art, including 9 National Treasures; and continuously supplements, preserves, and promotes the value of representative art collections in Vietnam. Exhibition, educational, and development activities have been modernized, focusing on the viewer. Many thematic exhibition spaces have been upgraded; art education programs, creative experiences, and professional seminars are increasingly attracting a large number of participants.
In particular, the Museum is a pioneer in digital transformation with the iMuseum VFA multimedia audio guide application and the VAES online art exhibition space, which is also the first online art exhibition platform in Vietnam. These efforts have helped the Museum win the Vietnam Digital Transformation Award twice, in 2021 and 2024. Scientific research, publishing, and promotion of Vietnamese art continue to achieve significant results, with works and exhibitions honored at the National Award for External Information and the National Book Award.
