Authorities busted a scam ring that defrauded nearly 3,000 people online.

The Lang Son Provincial Police, in coordination with the professional departments of the Ministry of Public Security, domestic and foreign functional forces, and local police forces, have dismantled an online fraud ring operating in Cambodia with nearly 3,000 victims and transaction amounts exceeding 7,500 billion VND.

Through investigative measures, the Lang Son Provincial Police discovered a group of people, aged 18-41, including Nguyen Thi Chin, residing in Hai Phong city, who was the "common-law wife" of a foreigner, masterminding and leading the operation of using social media platforms to post recruitment ads under the guise of easy work, high pay, and guaranteed high profits of 5-30% per day.

Those involved in the scheme were recruited into a shell company in the Tam Thai Tu area of ​​Cambodia to organize the fraud by luring victims into investing and making money through fake websites that they themselves operated.

The Investigation Police Department of Lang Son province has issued a decision to initiate criminal proceedings and indict 22 people involved in the ring for using computer networks, telecommunication networks, and electronic means to misappropriate property.

The investigation into this case is ongoing and being expanded. The Lang Son Provincial Police advise citizens to absolutely refrain from participating in online scams on social media.
