Economic development in Thanh Ba town

Leveraging the potential and strengths of the locality, in recent years, the Party Committee, government, and people of Thanh Ba town, Thanh Ba district, have promoted the development of agricultural economy linked with trade and services, increasing income and improving living standards.

The town's Party Committee and government have consistently focused on directing the restructuring of the agricultural economy, shifting from small-scale farming practices to commodity production; promoting the application of scientific and technological advancements, and introducing high-quality, high-yield, and high-production crop varieties. To date, 100% of the cultivated area is planted with high-yield hybrid rice varieties, ensuring adherence to the planting schedule, with an average rice yield of 52 quintals/hectare. In addition, tea plantations cover 17.3 hectares, and forestry plantations cover 146.53 hectares, applying advanced techniques to increase productivity, output, and economic efficiency. Along with the restructuring of crop production, the town has promoted household-scale livestock farming. Thanks to appropriate measures, household livestock farming has developed strongly towards commodity production. Currently, the total pig population in the area exceeds 700, and poultry numbers over 22,000.

In 2024, the following projects were implemented in the area: the road connecting Km30 of the Tuyen Quang - Phu Tho expressway to the center of Thanh Ba district; the renovation, repair, and upgrading of the drainage system of Cau Vang stream in Dong Linh area - Thanh Ba town to Man Lan; the road connecting Zone 3 of the town to Zone 4 of Dong Xuan... creating favorable conditions for trade, socio-economic development, and infrastructure. Currently, 100% of inter-village and inter-commune roads have been concreted, 100% of households have access to stable electricity, and all main roads have street lighting at night. The Party Committee and the town government directed the maximization of advantages to develop trade and services.

The entire town has nearly 800 businesses, cooperatives, and production and trading establishments, mainly concentrated in the market area and main arterial roads, with key industries such as: wood production and processing, construction materials, mechanical processing, garment manufacturing, wholesale and retail of goods, and food services... Total income from trade and services in 2024 reached over 344 billion VND, accounting for more than 55% of the local economic value; average per capita income reached 55.5 million VND/year; urban development achieved 9 out of 9 criteria, reaching 100% of the annual plan; the poverty rate decreased to 2.78%.

Comrade Do Minh Tuan, Secretary of the Party Committee of Thanh Ba town, said: “The town continues to prioritize the development of the local economy in a multi-sectoral direction, focusing on promoting the development of commodity-producing agriculture, applying technology to production, and linking it with the development of trade and services. We will actively replicate effective production and business models in the locality; plan concentrated commodity agricultural production areas; and strengthen connections and cooperation with business partners to seek and attract investment projects in production within the area, thereby increasing income and improving the lives of the people.”
