- Moc Ho Diep, a rare and precious medicinal herb that grows naturally in the Binh Gia area, has been brought into production and commercialization by Ms. Ly Phuong Hien, Director of Na Lang Agricultural and Forestry Cooperative, Binh Gia commune. This contributes to bringing practical benefits, creating livelihoods for ethnic minority women, and contributing to the overall development of the locality.

Binh Gia is a region with a large area of agricultural and forestry land, particularly suitable for the growth of the Magnolia officinalis tree. This is a valuable medicinal plant, passed down through generations, with many health benefits such as reducing stress and fatigue, boosting immunity, and cooling the body. Through research from elderly and reputable people with extensive experience and knowledge in using medicinal herbs, Ms. Hien learned that the flowers, fruits, and bark of the Magnolia officinalis tree can be used as medicine, in beverages, and processed into food.
From idea to action, since June 2023, Ms. Hien has been determined to research, produce, and develop Moc Ho Diep Tea into a high-quality commercial product, made 100% from natural ingredients, without chemicals or preservatives, in order to preserve the essence of this precious medicinal herb. Before being recognized as an OCOP product, Moc Ho Diep Tea was distributed traditionally, selling approximately 5,000-6,000 boxes per year.
After being evaluated and classified as a 3-star OCOP product in November 2024, the product became more well-known to consumers, and sales increased significantly. To date, the cooperative supplies 800-1,000 boxes of tea to the market each month, with each box priced at 60,000 VND/30 tea bags. The product packaging is biodegradable and environmentally friendly.
Ms. Hien has also boosted marketing and sales of her products on social media platforms such as Facebook, TikTok, the Shopee e-commerce platform, and at OCOP product showrooms and sales points in the province. Because the products have traceability labels, packaging that meets food safety standards and regulations, and comply with all requirements, they are gaining increasing customer trust.

In addition, Moc Ho Diep Tea has been displayed, promoted, and sold at many large and small events inside and outside the province, such as: the first Autumn Fair in 2025 at the Vietnam Exhibition Center in Dong Anh, Hanoi ; the program to digitally transform traditional markets and promote e-commerce development in Lang Son province; the week introducing agricultural products and OCOP products of Lang Son province in Hanoi; the agricultural and regional specialty market - the week promoting custard apples and agricultural specialties of Lang Son province in 2024 in Hanoi…
Ms. Hien shared: "The cooperative currently has 20 members, providing regular employment for 15 workers, all of whom are ethnic minority women living in the local area. To obtain raw materials for production, the cooperative has its own production area of about 2 hectares, cultivating tea in parallel with purchasing raw materials from local people. In 2026, we aim to create jobs for 20-30 local people, continue to develop the cultivation area, and increase tea production."
More specifically, Ms. Hien hopes that in the future, the cooperative will ensure a stable income, helping at least 70% of female workers earn a higher income than the average for agricultural workers. Women working as distributors or online sales collaborators for the cooperative can also earn significant additional income. Furthermore, she hopes to provide local women with training in tea cultivation and processing, sales skills, and financial management, thereby enabling them to become more financially independent and confident in life.
Ms. Lai Thi Huong, from Quynh Mai ward, Hanoi city, said: "I have trusted and purchased Moc Ho Diep Tea products for a long time. After using the tea for a while, I feel healthier and sleep better. The tea has a mild aroma, is very easy to drink, and the price is reasonable, very suitable for the budgets of many people."

Recently, Ms. Ly Phuong Hien's Moc Ho Diep Tea Project - Developing a Green Economy from Forests - excellently won First Prize at the 2025 Women's Entrepreneurship Day organized by the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province.
Evaluating the project from the perspective of the Judging Panel of the 2025 Women's Entrepreneurship Festival, Ms. Vi Thanh Tam, Deputy Head of the Women's Affairs Department, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, said: The Moc Ho Diep Tea project is a typical startup idea in the field of green economic development, both innovative and closely linked to the conservation of local resources, with long-term sustainability, contributing to enhancing the value of the Nuc nac tree, a local medicinal herb, while creating job opportunities and higher incomes for ethnic minority women, making an important contribution to improving the status of women in rural and mountainous areas.
The Moc Ho Diep Tea Project has contributed to affirming the distinctive products created from the dedication of farmers and with a clear development orientation, which can completely create a solid economic leverage, stabilize employment, and improve the quality of life for the people.
