Pine trees are characteristic of the hilly forest areas in Tran Hung Dao and Nguyen Trai wards, and are closely associated with the Con Son - Kiet Bac historical site. From contracting to care for natural pine forests, some households have shifted their focus to developing ornamental pine tree cultivation. The family of Mr. Nguyen Van Ngan in Cau Dong residential area, Tran Hung Dao ward, is a pioneer in developing the ornamental pine cultivation industry. Currently, his family owns nearly 3 hectares of ornamental pine trees with almost 4,000 trees. Compared to other ornamental plants, pine trees are easy to care for, but shaping them is more difficult and elaborate because pine branches are stiff and easily broken. To create beautiful bonsai pine trees, the craftsman must be patient, meticulously pruning and shaping each branch. Ornamental pine trees are highly sought after due to their robust shape. As a result, the business of cultivating ornamental pine trees yields high economic value. Each ornamental pine tree can cost from several million to tens of millions, or even hundreds of millions of dong. To develop the bonsai pine tree cultivation industry sustainably, several households involved in the trade have joined forces to establish the Chi Linh Bonsai Pine Tree Club. In the future, households growing ornamental pine trees will focus on developing brands to improve economic efficiency and spread the historical and cultural value of pine trees in this land associated with world heritage sites.NGUYEN MO - THANH CHUNG
