According to observations by Tuoi Tre Online on the morning of August 31st in Hoi An ancient town, the number of visitors on the pedestrian streets was quite sparse. Despite being in the midst of the holiday season and having sunny weather, the number of people experiencing the sights was not as overwhelming as in previous years.
"Over the past two days, we've sold a relatively good number of tickets, but overall it wasn't as crowded as expected. There were fewer international tourists this time, but in return, there were quite a lot of Vietnamese visitors," said a ticket counter employee at the Hoi An Old Town tourist area.
Accommodation providers in Hoi An reported a relatively high percentage of guests who booked but did not show up. Many people from afar were worried about bad weather, and the fact that many tourists flocked to Hanoi to watch the parade made Hoi An less crowded this year compared to previous September 2nd celebrations.
To celebrate Independence Day, the ancient town of Hoi An has been adorned in the red of the national flag in recent days. Streets, hotel balconies, and restaurants all display flags to welcome the national holiday. Souvenir shops and fashion boutiques also offer decorative items featuring the red flag with a yellow star, creating a lively atmosphere.
